Water Based Epoxy Resin Pond Paint 1L (Black)

Used it to paint the inside of an old galvanized water tank that was rusting and turning the water orange. It was easy to use and cured after ~24 hours even though the day was only around12-14 C and we had an overnight frost. Went on easily with a smooth roller and a cheap paint brush to get in the corners, very easy to clean up with just cold water Noting complaints about the paint curing too quickly when warm, I put the tin with the remaining half for the second coat into a bowl with ice packs, and it was still usable 4 or 5 hours after the initial mix. Very pleased with the results. Note that the actual colour in real-life is not as blue as in the photo and matches my idea of "Slate grey".

Pond Paint on resin fountain. (clear) This paint was easy to mix using the resin and hardener. it brushed on quickly during the 1st coat as the liquid was very watery. The second coat was more effort as the paint had started to thicken even after half an hour between coats, this was due to very warm weather conditions. This is an advantage as the paint went on thicker with the 2nd coat. The result is outstanding as it gives the fountain the 'wet look' i was not expecting. i can recommend this paint for resin fountains and has prevented the original paintwork from peeling off, especially with our hard water supply and limescale. (even with water treatment) read the instructions carefully as there is a limited usage time. It will harden in the tin. On the expensive side, considering i only used a quarter of a tin for the whole project. Value for money..no worth it to preserve my fountain....yes

Mostly did the job but bubbles formed and discoloured the clear appearance in places.

These days ALL paint comes with instructions & hazards, as well as cleaning / disposal. Nope! That's a serious -3 for me (ex H&S). You CANNOT assume how to clean stuff! If you're not going to tell me, then at least put the ingredients on there to give me a clue! (Thankfully having taught science, including chemistry) The use, having to mix & being able to thin with water have me ideas but i still had surprises! More important, it's a warning about allergies & worse transdermal toxins! If you've no idea how to do stuff safely don't touch this! I took a risk using a margarine tub as i realised it was going in the bin afterwards! Also a cheap, thin but wide brush. I really needed to bin it after each use! Forget cleaning! This stuff is totally unforgiving, get it anywhere you don't want it & either leave it to dry whilst you finish the job & it'll get everywhere, or leave the job, let the paint go off whilst you try to clean! If you're the messy type clear everything else out of the way, wear a paper overall (or just dispense with the clothing?😱🫣) Pls do read the notes others have made, thanks too tte guys who said about doing a thin coat first, a thicker one after (I'm going to wait & see if i need a 3rd.) This gets complicated so please plan first! May seem obvious, but the more you think the paint, the longer it takes to go off but the more time you have, the less water you use, the more like painting with smooth peanut butter it becomes & the quicker it goes off! Now it says 90 mins but gives no idea of how much water you can add or individual proteins of each ingredient to mix! That's a HUGE fail in my book! Even worse, it says dump tin B (the smaller one) into tin A. For headband sake PLEASE DON'T DO THAT! Yes, it might be safe BUT if you're only doing a small job then you're going to want to get 2 or maybe 3 coats out of the paint & do it that way, you'll get 1 & 1 only! The thicker the paint, the quicker the cure time. Just, maybe 100+100ml with maybe 50ml of water (what i'm using as a mid coat but depending on how it dries may be a final one) was starting to go off after 30 mins! So much for the 90mins. The initial much i used with maybe 200ml water have it a nice wash coat to cover up blemishes & give it something to grip to but took days to dry! (The water slows the drying process) So you can imagine how thick & unmanageable it becomes if you just add b to a & crack on! It also won't go very far! The 2nd mix i used is probably going to be a 2mm thick coat once dry & total area 1m² (see photo) i used the blue paint inside, the yellow one the outside is acrylic for comparison. See, there's no suggested table of mixing of A + B + water & potential coverage; you know, the sort of useful stuff that helps you plan, nor how long it takes to go off, not time to be tac dry! 🤦🏻 I feel like I'm doing the company's job for them! Watch out - if you thin the paint, it takes longer to cure. That also means that if it gets wet, e.g. train, it can still run after 2 days, as i discovered! So make sure you can cover it up or it's guaranteed dry! There's a problem with that though! Painting a 2nd coat! You can't subtract the water to thicken it up once added so once the paint in the tin has cured, it's only fit for the bin! (See, that's where the cure time is so useful if you're doing a big job that may take a few hours too cover!) & It'll get expensive in tins too! 😱🤷🏻 So, if you're ok winging it & have the experience, go for it! Otherwise, I'd give this a miss! Also, beware the fumes, open space only! I suspect Tim B of either an acrylic or latex by the smell & you DO NOT want that on your hands (indeed, i know i was taking a chance using a plastic spoon to transfer it; maybe why they say just dump tin B into A. But then tin A is so huge, you have to hold it at an angle to mix & get the paint out it would make me feel uncomfortable holding it for fear of spoiling it! This is why the contents are so important, at the very least, things to gather together before you start! All that said, the initial layer, once dry (which did take 7 days) was quite tough! Reassuringly, applying the next cost, you could feel the surface open up to bind with the new paint layer being applied, giving you confidence it was going to be resilient & stick! I would expect no less than waterproof, but thankfully that first layer appeared to be. That salvaged 1 *. So if you do use it, please be careful, get your act together first & decide a plan! I don't think of advise mixing multiple tins, like you could with the same emulsion batch, be mindful of how long it'll take & the cure time! Watch your H&S! Pls!!!

Very good and easy to use, you have to be very quick with second coat!
