From the bestselling “Queen of Coloring,” a gorgeous new coloring book that explores fairy-tale worlds and intricate magical vistas Magical Worlds is a coloring book of faraway lands, enchanted castles, and inky realms, all featuring Johanna Basford’s trademark illustrations. Let your creativity take you on an incredible journey as you add color to underwater cities, tiny, cozy cottages, and marvelous tree houses. Review: Perfect for Stress Relief and Creative Reset - I absolutely love this coloring book. The illustrations are beautiful, detailed without being overwhelming, and really thoughtfully designed. It feels like stepping into a tiny magical world every time I open it. I use coloring as a way to calm my nervous system and give my brain a break, and this book is perfect for that. The pages are thick enough that markers and gel pens don’t easily bleed through, and colored pencils work great too. I also really appreciate the variety in the designs. Some pages are more intricate for when I want to focus, and some are simpler for low-energy days. It makes it easy to come back to over and over. If you’re looking for something relaxing, creative, and genuinely soothing, this is a great choice. It’s been a really lovely addition to my self-care routine, and I’d definitely recommend it! Review: These are amazing - This is my third Johanna Basford coloring book and each one has been as fabulous as the last. All of my kids (ages 3-9) as well as myself love to color her books, especially with gel pens. There are so many little details and mystical drawings that keep us quietly occupied for a long time. I love that there are full size coloring pages as well as multiple smaller items on pages so it's easy to just color for 5 minutes. These would make a great gift for anybody who loves to color, both young and old. It's a great size, the paper is quality, I like the square shaped book and there is plenty of room to cut the entire page out without messing up the picture. My only qualm is that the pages should be perforated for quick removal, but that doesn't lower my rating. Joanna Basford is so talented and draws the most darling homes in each of her books. I look forward to purchasing the rest of them.

Hands down best coloring book I’ve ever had.
I absolutely agonize over which picture I want to color. Please don’t judge too harshly on my yellow jewel, I have color regret SO bad on that one 🤣 when I first got the book I was a bit annoyed with how many pages had the “little” drawings on them, but honestly they are SO satisfying to color. Maybe just instant gratification bc each page is so elaborate and detailed. But they’re so pretty and I just absolutely love this book. Flip back and forth between loving colored pencils and brush tip markers. Was worried because there are images on both sides of the paper, but even being heavy handed with the markers doesn’t produce any bleed through. I’d love a pack of acrylic paint markers to try out in this book! Also I wish I could have like 3 more exact copies of the gem page because I’m so obsessed with it lol. SO SATISFYING.

Overall, it's lovely...
For the most part, I think this new book is cute and lovely. I love the dragons, the wizardish stuff, and the pumpkin house. The underwater scenic items, cute castles and houses, some space stuff, a flying boat, and two Rita Berman-esque style circular building pages. Nice little vignettes abound. Lots to love. However, there also quite a few adult coloring clichés here: a tortoise with stuff on its back? Really? Why? I am so incredibly tired of turtles carrying stuff on their shells (or stuff growing out of their shells). We don't need any more tortises as moving vans. A swan, two pegasus facing each other, and a sloth hanging from something. Beetles, snails, and moths (moths, and more moths) overkill. I don't understand the obsession with insects popularity with artists that drive the adult coloring trend buses. And, even more food obsession--especially sweets. I live on a fixed income, and have food allergies, so the food obsessiveness is annoying. What's with all the buildings with the onion shaped domes? Is Johanna obsessed with Russia, Arabia, and India? While I love the variety of animals and birds that are included, I wish they weren't so entangled with patterns. Again, there's lots to love here, but at the same time, there's not much that's "fresh" here in concept. However, overall, I'm glad I ordered it. Johanna has already said that the release slated for next year is going to largely botanical. I'm not really a fan of just coloring flora. As a result, I may skip the next one. I'd actually like to see someone publish anti-floral themed books, because florals seem to overwhelm adult coloring books. Time will tell, as Johanna reveals more teasers. If I do decide to skip it, World of Wonders, 30 days of Creativity, Small Victories, and Rooms of Wonder all have things that aren't as floral. And, I also have most of the rest of her back catalog. I don't pressure myself into coloring what doesn't interest me. So I'm not part of the crowd that it's absolutely important to completely finish books.
