The bottom of the slip-ons seem to be fairly hard rubber. And I'm going to buy another pair in case they are suddenly discontinued and unavailable. I've tried MANY different types of sandals and this is the only thing that is comfortable for someone with high arches. The arch support is fantastic. And I very rarely experience any episodes of plantar fasciitis. They're even better than wearing shoes with orthotic inserts. I guess that's why I wear them almost all year round, even in the winter. If I'm not in bed, I am wearing these sandals outside and around the house. I just wish they would last longer than a year. About every spring, my feet start to ache a little and bottom rubber starts to split and detach. That's a sign that it's time to buy a new pair.
