Review: I bought it for my husband who has a reddish dry skin on the front of his two legs. I've put this product on the wounded area and covered it as instructed. We visited the doctor the next day and she said to stop it because his condition didn't require anything on it, just air dry . I'll keep it for other small wounds.
Review: Years back I'd been given some Amerigel after ingrown toenail surgery from my podiatrist. Presently, I had contracted a chronic open wound on my leg 2 years ago & had tried EVERYTHING with no results. The wound has ruined a lot of my life. I've been unable to exercise, move, stretch, bend, stand or cook because it would split it open or swell. The pain was most of the time unbearable. Sleeping was a nightmare. Even just showering very difficult. I basically have been a hermit because going anywhere hurt too much. I tried surgical debriding many times (oh my gosh no anesthesia, are they barbarians?), creams, ointments, expensive prescription ointments (Santyl) and for 2 years none of it showed any healing or any progress. The hole in my leg remained the exact same. One day I remembered Amerigel, & how it had been helpful years before & decided to give it a chance literally as a last resort. I was concerned placing it on a completely open bleeding wound, but I felt like I didn't have a choice & I knew I could not go on if I didn't at least try something new to give me hope. It does work slowly, but it WORKS! For the first time ever, after 4 weeks I noticed the hole was still there, but it was shrinking! After 3 months of regular use, SKIN BEGAN TO FILL IN THE HOLE! For the first time, a scab formed!! I was overjoyed. The first scab didn't "take" so to speak, and I was totally sad. But ANOTHER formed! And then the scab has gotten smaller & smaller & I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I still have other health issues because of the wound to deal with, but the wound itself is certainly closing & on it's way out. So I promised I'd literally be shouting about this product from the rooftops because it is actually healing an open chronic wound that has been the burden of my life for 2+ years. God bless the makers of Amerigel. Here's my wound care / life routine that seemed to really start things going in the right direction: 1. Diet: I did start drinking freshly juiced organic celery juice in the morning before eating during this time. I do not think it was what healed me but hey, it's good for you, so who knows. I bought the Sboly juicer here on desertcart. If you try this, you've gotta do organic because regular celery is loaded with pesticides even after washing. - I also began adding a 1/2 scoop Orgain Keto Collagen (also from desertcart) in my daily smoothies. But I'd been doing that for about 5 months prior to starting Amerigel. - I also started adding 2 tablespoons of organic hemp seeds and 1 or 2 tablespoons of organic chia seeds to my daily smoothie. I do think this had something to do with healing because I noticed a difference after about 2 weeks of doing this. 2. Wound care: After showering, I cleanse the area with STERILE 0.9% saline solution that I purchase on desertcart. I bought a plastic small spray bottle at Walmart that I sanitized by filling with rubbing alcohol first, also spraying rubbing alcohol through it to cleanse the entire nozzle, dumping that & letting the bottle dry, and this is what I now fill with saline solution. Before cleansing, I warm the spray bottle filled with saline between my legs or something so as not to "shock" the wound. I spray the wound then wipe the area with soft fabric gauze, my preference is Equate gauze pads/bandages (Walmart), I unwrap 1 or 2 & use them to clean the wound. They are decent quality & more like a soft cloth instead of the crappy paper-based gauze pads/bandages that are out there. If the wound is really open & yucky, I take 2 of the Equate 3×3 gauze bandages, unfold them to make a wider square, about 4×4 or 5x5 with multiple layers. Then I put a blob of Amerigel on the area of the bandage that's going to be directly on the actual wound area. Then I put Equate Triple Antibiotic Ointment (not the Equate antibiotic cream, I've foud it to be different) around the Amerigel spot on the bandage. I place the bandage appropriately on the wound area & tape with 3M medical tape (purchased here). I cover the whole thing with a Kingrip brand elastic, soft, tubular bandage (also available on desertcart). Not too tight mind you, just snug enough for general support. I leave the gauze and cloth bandages on for several hours or overnight, then remove the gauze bandage dressing whenever it feels like it's starting to get itchy or dried out a little. I then put the tubular cloth bandage back on. This allows more oxygen to reach the wound but still provides some support. If the wound starts to feel bothered before my next shower, I put on a little more Amerigel and Equate Triple Antibiotic Ointment just directly on the area & either cover with another gauze bandage or if the wound is doing ok, I just put the tubular cloth bandage back on alone to keep "letting it breathe." I also started being able to go more time between wound dressing changes, which I do think may have helped because it let some fresh air get to the wound more often through the cloth tube bandage. In addition, & I don't know if this also helped, but during the time I started to notice healing, I was almost totally bedridden. I had gotten very depressed from the wound & some other health issues going on, I just kind of laid around a lot. But I think maybe the lack of activity helped keep the skin still enough to further the healing process. Anyway, all of the above has helped me. I hope and pray this will help anyone with a wound, because they are so painful & so debilitating. Try Amerigel! Good luck.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the gel cause the wound to hurt even more?**
A: Hurts like hell on a deep puncture wound I can tell you that. Surface wounds it feels good. I thought my fingers were going to fall off. It hurt more than the cuts themselves.

**Q: Is the gel thin and liquid-like or thick? I need it to protect a sensitive area like a bandage.**
A: AMERIGEL Hydrogel Wound Dressing is thick like an ointment as it's first squeezed from the tube and quickly liquefies at body temperature. This formulation allows for easy application across the area of the skin that you're treating, even if it's sensitive.

**Q: Does this work better than Vaseline for healing an incision?**
A: yes, for us (over the past 5 years) it gives a covering for wournds, but provides the proper moisture to heal rather than forming a dry scab that cracks off. Also, podiatrist had me use it on a problem corner of a toenail to reduce iritation and promote healing. it works this answer by Bruce

**Q: Has anyone use Amerigel on poison oak?**
A: No I actually used it on an open wound and it helped heal it a lot faster than what the doctor had prescribed. Check out a product called Tecnu Rash Relief. It’s medicated and specifically mentions poison oak. I use that on my armpit. Sometimes after I shave I get a rash and that soothes and heals it fast.
