Makes for a easy instal, great build quality and packaging, and good instruction. However not every motherboard back plate is the same. Be sure that you either know that the back plate is fashioned into the motherboard without anything being screwed into it. Or that you have the stock cooler stands installed before removing the stock cpu bracket. Also it can take more screwing depending on the motherboard. The thermal past tobe is also very small.

Once in place, it made a clear difference more even pressure, better contact, and also improves performance and overall functionality with more stable temps on my Ryzen 7000 setup. I also like that it adds a layer of protection around the CPU, which gives some peace of mind during installs. If you want to get the best performance out of your AM5 system, this frame is absolutely worth it.

I installed the Thermal Grizzly AM5 Contact Frame on my Ryzen 9 7900X3D system with a Corsair H150i AIO and Arctic MX-6 thermal paste, and the results were better than expected. Before the upgrade, my CPU would peak at around 73°C during OCCT stress testing. After installing the contact frame and reapplying thermal paste, my max temperatures dropped to 67°C — a solid 5–6°C improvement under full load. The system now runs cooler, more stable, and with less thermal fluctuation during intense gaming and productivity tasks. I also noticed a slight drop in GPU temps during 4K benchmarks, likely due to better overall case thermals now that the CPU heat is dissipated more efficiently. Build quality is top-notch, installation was straightforward (just follow the instructions and be patient), and everything fit perfectly with my AIO. Although not technically necessary with AM5 CPUs, the contact frame DOES help with thermals a tiny bit (due to the increased thermal mass surrounding the CPU) from my initial testing anyway. The frame is made from solid aluminum and feels quite durable. Not sure if it’s CNC or cast aluminum but it will probably last forever. The look, fit, and overall design is spot on. I use mine with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and it works great. This frame will work with all Ryzen 7000 CPUs and it also has a seal that goes around the base of the CPU to ease the mounting pressure a bit, or prevent thermal compound leakage, although I’m unsure if that’s what it’s for. The type of cooler you use doesn’t matter from what I’ve seen, just make sure it will mount properly and that even mounting pressure is applied to the cooler. Cleaning the CPU of thermal compound can be tricky because the paste tends to cake within the inner edges of the frame, while not an issue in most cases it can become an issue over time due to dried paste buildup. Overall, a very easy to install addition to your PC to aid with thermals and give your CPU socket a cleaner look. 10/10

Excellent product. Easy to mount. It sits perfectly on the CPU making it a lot easier to apply the thermal paste and spread it without any mess. Definitely a must-have IMHO.

Worked flawlessly. I was nervous taking the manufacturer frame off the socket but as long as you’re careful there’s no problem. I put it on my 9800x3D without any issues and fits like a glove. Great product at a reasonable price.

Amazing product yet again by the guys at Thermal Grizzly. The gasket it comes with is really cool and keeps any pump out away from other components. And it also fits perfect. It’s a step above the quality over the other contact frames.

Nice simple alternative to the board oem frame. Good quality piece feels solid when you take it out the box. Looks well made but it’s under a AIO so you don’t see it once it’s installed. First time using one and first time building a AM5 system so I had nothing to compare it to temperature cooling wise from looking online I think maybe 1or 2 degrees C cooler difference is what’s to be expected but I had no previous temps to go off for my own comparison. It does aid with thermal paste application but as always you still need to be careful to not spread it everywhere over the board and in the cut outs on the lid. Overall it was £20 I think. I’m told it’s a vital bit of kit for the Intel CPU’s.

Funktion: Er dichtet die markanten Zwischenräume des AM5-Heatspreaders perfekt ab. Bei einer High-End-CPU wie dem 9800X3D läuft so keine überschüssige Wärmeleitpaste mehr in die Ecken, was das Reinigen beim nächsten Kühlerwechsel enorm erleichtert. Zudem sorgt er für einen optimalen, gleichmäßigen Anpressdruck des CPU-Kühlers. Fazit: Ein kleines Teil mit großer Wirkung. Schützt die wertvolle CPU, erleichtert die Wartung und lässt sich kinderleicht montieren. Eine klare Empfehlung für jeden AM5-Builder!
