A: On its lowest setting it will stay on. It works well for keeping in on all night without a bright light all night. It can also dim "completely" to be turned off.

**Q: Can you use a 40W bulb in this cord**
A: No, not unless it has small socket threads like a night light bulb

**Q: What's the maximum wattage for this lamp socket**
A: They recommend a 7 watt but you can use up to a 12 watt.  Higher than 12 watt the bulb heats up the lamp too much and that destroys the cord and socket.  Thus danger of fire and you have to replace the cord and socket every 10 or 12 months.

**Q: Does this bulb throw off heat? Iso bulb replacement for a wax melter.**
A: That's the purpose of the bulb.  It heats the salt lamp to where the salt molecules ionize on the lamp and freshen the air.
