Wen Multi-Functional Universal Handheld Drill Guide and Jig (WA1502)

Needed to install some cabinet handles on new IKEA drawers, which I'd never done before. I knew I wanted to do things right the first time (measure twice, cut once and all that) so along with finding a tool to help space the holes correctly, I found this to help me keep the holes straight. Pleased to say it worked out great, this is an extremely solid guide, you just find the correct size beforehand, and then insert the drill bit and start drilling. As long as you keep a good grip on the guide, it keeps it perfectly straight. I did add a few small pieces of grip tape (cat's tongue tape I think is it's actual name) which helped keep it from sliding on the cabinet surface. Definitely a great tool if you want to ensure straight holes, professionals or people who do a lot of this sort of work might not need or care about it, but for those of us without the experience, very useful.

Very good deal for the price. Jig is heavy metal, works well and seems durable. The lever action is a big step up from other similar metal ones which require you to hand-screw in each piece of wood. Comes with a nice supply of screws, bit, plugs. Not quite Kreg quality but perfectly acceptable. If you do pocket holes every day you would spend the money for the Kreg jig, but if you do it occasionally, this one is a nice middle ground between the beginner tool (which requires clamps) and the full-blown Kreg jig.

This guide has gotten a lot more use than I expected. It's got a solid, heavy build that makes it easy to keep in place when drilling. As others mention, the black-on-black size markings can be hard to read, but for me, just tilting it to catch the right angle of light is enough to find the size I need. It's small enough to easily stash in a pocket or any toolbox drawer, and it can also be stuck on a magnet bar. My only "complaint" would be the height of the block. Even with the 45-degree bottom bevel, I feel it could be slightly shorter while still providing the right angle guide. As it is, I've found that many jobber-length bits, especially in smaller diameters, simply can't be used with this guide as the fluted portions barely protrude through the holes.

I have the american original brand for years, and this WEN is a step up in functionality. Having the cross lines for the holes installed really improves functionality and takes the headache out of alignment. If you need a pocket drill guide, this is my #1 pick. Just take a paintbrush, or a rattlecan, and fill in some of the lines on the unit with your color preference.

This is a ruggedly built and simple tool for drilling strait holes. It's not as good as a drill press, but it's a definite improvement over drilling free hand.

I used the system twice already and it is much easier than using a single system that you have to clamp tight on every hole and still moves. This when system looks sturdy and made my life easier. Unfortunately the drill bit that came keeps falling from my drill, the square driver bit does not fit well the screws and it keeps slipping off. I’m using my old drill bit, but I was really looking forward to have a new and sharp one.

I used to drill all my holes without a guide and usually didn't have a problem but the 10% of the times I did usually created a problem due to splintered wood or seeing the tip of the screw sticking out like a compound fracture. I started using this drill guide and it's now becoming a habit. I drill most of my holes faster and never have to drill more than once. It's made from steel that feels like cast iron. Since the sizes are not painted a contrasting color it can be a little difficult to quickly identify the correct hole to use but I just completed 16 screws in a row using this and only had to check to make sure I was using the correct size twice. It's made for 90 degree screwing and isn't a good substitute for angles screw-ins or pocket screwing. What it excels at is ensuring the 90 degree screw-ins are accurate, quick, and don't damage the drill guide.

Thoughtfully designed drill guide, which is no surprise when a tool is designed by Wen. My favorite feature is the clearly marked guidelines along the sides, ends, and even the surface! Because there's a horizontal guideline etched into the surface as well, you can look through the drill-guide holes to align the drill guide to your coordinating axis line when the guide hangs off of one end of your piece, preventing you from aligning it to the midline guideline on the end. My only minor complaint would be in regards to its depth, which can prevent smaller drill bits from drilling as far into your material as you would like, but then that added depth certainly ensures your drill holes are straight as an arrow. Really, an incredibly functional and high-quality tool, especially for the price. I'm purchasing more as gifts for all of the handy people in my life as stocking stuffers. I've no doubt it will end up being the tool they never knew they needed. Also, be sure to check out WEN's Metric & Imperial Metal Thread-Pitch Multi-Gauges—another favorite WEN tool set I own. Love the sturdiness of the jig and the built in adjustable clamp! Much more user friendly than the Kreg system.

Good tool for the price. It allows you to easily drill 90 and 45 degree holes of various sizes. There are more expensive and perhaps better build quality products available but this is pretty solid and more than adequate for my occasional use. I found it advantageous to colour the scale numbers to make them more visible when using the tool. Very satisfied with and recommend the product.

Un outil solide qui semble sans prétention mais, qui offre toute la flexibilité pour les trous ensachés. Facile à ajuster, perçage relativement précis. Les instructions du manuel sont un peu imprécises pour le néophyte mais dans l'ensemble avec un peu de réflexion on peut se débrouiller. Amenez-en des projets. Le rapport qualité prix est nettement supérieur aux Gabarits de perçage du fournisseur en bleu.
