Lightweight, versatile and easy to use
Got this when it was in a sale and my current controller (vanilla xbox controller) was getting stick drift. I have used standard controllers and the xbox elite controller for comparison. The elite, while weighted and having a solid feel, broke 3 times in a year that I had to send back to get replaced, before it broke again out of warranty and I was given a discount to buy a new one so I gave u and went back to standard controllers. On getting this I was pleased with it straight out the box, although it is lightweight, it feels solid. on first set up to the xbox I downloaded the app to manage the controller settings, this initially put me off. It felt overly complex and hard to navigate, however, after becoming more familiar I discover that all the settings are able to be changed from the controller itself in a very user friendly interface on the controller display. This then made the xbox app easier to understand, though I still change all setting directly on the controller. Yoju can set different profiles, change the controller colours, switch hair triggers on or off, reset calibrate the controller thumbsticks and triggers, change various headphone auido options. The battery life is great, though if you have all the lights on, vibration etc etc it will obviously draw the battery a lot quicker. This is a fantastic bit of kit and so far has served me well. Very happy.

Excellent controller, but be prepared to return it.
1 Year later. Multiple updates, controller still isn't fit for purpose, have lost more games because of this controllers random disconnects etc than i ever couple have with any other controller. 29th March Update - Obvious Design Defect. Due to the non-existant anti friction rings & non-replacable sticks, as you can see normal wear/tear (had this controller since start of Feb) Is slowly working it's way through the stick. Longer Term Review: I've now been using the controller for over a month, in a multitude of games. The Hall Effect sticks are very sensitive/accurate and the technology should eliminate drifting effects with the exception of the spring simply wearing out in long term use, although the anti friction ring material leaves alot to be desired as within a short time (hours) the controller sticks feel much like a standard controller with a grindy/gritty feeling as it circles the ring, it's no worse than a standard controller but it's far and away from the Elite controllers which use more appropriate materials which completely smooth for it's entire life time. (Even if you get one that lasts years rather than weeks) and a major negative is the fact the sticks aren't replaceable, you get some chinsy covers to go over them but that isn't anywhere near good enough for the price point. The mechanical buttons are LOVELY, it's hard to go back to a normal controller the clicky clicky dpad and face buttons are a joy to use and beat em up titles are very much enjoyable compared to any other controllers I've experienced. Battery life, it isn't 30 hours but with a custom power setting of medium LEDs and short screen off time I routinely get 20+ hours from it, placing it on the charging dock when I goto bed each night battery really is not an issue currently. However, the controller is not perfect. First, the select button (used for Map in RPG games etc) is very close to the left analogue stick, personally I find my "man hands" almost always snag on the analogue stick and I have to consciously press it, id go as far as to say it's a major design flaw. The start button is also similar, mainly for beat em up titles when your mashing the face buttons trying to get those combos/throws I've found quite a few times I've inadvertently touched the start button and paused the game, not a game breaking issue but for sure id not buy revision 2 of this controller if the buttons remained in the same place. I've seen people complain about connectivity to the console, I've had one disconnect in a month of use that was strange/problematic and I had to power cycle the controller. The firmware/software on the controller itself is quite good, very responsive and I've on many occasions added buttons to the rear paddles during gameplay in a few seconds while I flicked through the controller menus, but I'd say there's still some work to be done regarding placement of menus, for example the Profile menu to swap between profiles is a good few button presses to swap from Profile 1 to 2 when it could be done in 2 presses, and adding more buttons (start/select maybe) to the configuration options, fortunately Turtle Beach are releasing updates pretty actively so these things may well come soon. All in all, an excellent controller for a first attempt but I hope a revision 2 comes along in a years time and polishes it up and it'll be a no brainer for the best controller title, of course the competition could come out with Hall Effect sticks and mechanical switches in that time and compeletely overshadow the Stealth Ultras potential, the ultra has the internal technology nailed but if someone copies it and tweaks button placement/friction ring upgrade & allows for replaceable sticks, that's the one who gets the best controller title & there would be no looking twice.

It’s great but only as a controller and not the media side
In the end it was good and still is. However the app is useless and that was the issue. If you use the app on the Xbox and not your mobile then it all works but no one told me that. Sticks and quick fire buttons are great however the social media side is useless - you have to reconnect it to your phone every time you use the controller and just is a waste of time in the end. The screen is useful though for setting up the controller so has it’s worth there

Excellent pad with fantastic configuration options.
This is a tough review. On one hand I really like the controller over my Xbox Elite 2 but my judgement is somewhat skewed by the fact I bought this controller at a much reduced price via Amazon Warehouse. If I had paid full price I think I would be slightly disappointed with the overall feel of the pad. It works very well but it doesn't "feel" premium, but then it is a bit cheaper than the Elite 2 Anyway - this pad is not as heavy as the Elite 2 which is actually a good thing (for me at least). I can game for much longer using this pad than the Elite 2. Functionality is almost identical to the Elite 2 and my PC actually sees it as a proper xbox controller so there should be no compatibility issues. The D-pad and face buttons don't feel quite as good as the Elite 2 but they work well and you get used to the extremely short throw of the face buttons which is the main difference. What makes this controller stand out is the way you can tweak the pad settings on the fly using the built in display, which seems to be Turtle Beach's thing these days. Settings like axis response curves, deadzones, vibration settings, profiles and LED colours can all be changed directly from the pad which is really good. This is just as well as the Windows App is a bit rubbish! Wireless has worked flawlessly for me and the recharge/docking station is a very nice inclusion which the Elite2 simply doesn't have as standard. I haven't seen any lag or disconnections at all. The hall effect sticks are extremely smooth and accurate. You can easily run at zero deadzone on all games. I thought I would miss the swappable stick lengths that the Elite 2 has but I've found the sticks on The Stealth Ultra to be excellent just as they are with no issues in driving or flying games. The only other issue I have found is the Select button is in a slightly awkward position meaning your thumb has to reach over the left stick to press it which feels odd compared to a proper xbox pad. You get used to it though. Overall this is an excellent package, but the RRP is probably a little high.

Triggers fail and ruin game experiences
This WAS an awesome bit of kit, felt great and when you got used to some of the quirks it was superb, however the build quality is appalling where the triggers move laterally and then only activate the function on a game. Ruined many a game for me, until I went to a different replacement controller. Sadly there is zero suitable customer support for the faults. I love the headsets, and always will, but the controllers are a huge let down. Not worth the money in my personal opinion

5 star controller
Perfect, easy to setup and easy to use. The only problem I had was the USB adapter failed but I contacted Turtle Beach explained what happened and they sent me a new adapter out and it has worked fine since. I had owned and used a lot of xbox controllers and this is my favourite by far

Disappointing
Pros: 1. Highly customisable 2. Lots of profiles to choose from 3. Very lightweight (although this can also be a con) 4. Good size, fits in the hands well Cons (inc issues I encountered): 1. So lightweight it can sometimes feel very cheap 2. Applying the profiles can be awkward, and sometimes you need to re-apply them after turning the controller on 3. Right thumbstick randomly being over-aggressive with left rotational movement 4. Right trigger not functioning correctly all of the time 5. P1 mappable button on the back is sticking already and when it does this, is unresponsive I really wanted to give this controller a chance (owned for just under 2 months) but I experienced annoying little niggles from day one which I just don't think are acceptable for a controller that demands the asking price. Turtle Beach state that all the buttons are rated for 5-million clicks, but in the short time I have had the device (playing roughly 2-3 hours per night) the P1 mappable button on the back of the controller has started to stick, making it very temperamental. I also experience an annoying bug with the right thumbstick. When rotated to the left (to control camera movement, aim, etc) it will occasionally be very aggressive with the movement causing the camera to veer to the left - much further than my thumb movement has indicated. I do wonder whether this has something to do with the way the thumbsticks are designed using magnets rather than the traditional method of fixed sticks. Additionally, I have a problem with the right trigger (RT). When I have this set to the short travel (so it simply clicks, rather than needing to be pressed all the way down) it will sometimes just become unresponsive. The best example I can use to describe this is when playing an FPS game, this causes the weapon to stop firing even though I still have RT depressed. I can work around this problem by disabling the clicky button but that then removes what should be a core feature above a standard controller. I have finally decided to cut my losses and return the controller for a refund - Amazon have been hugely helpful here, arranging everything for me as the automated window for returns had passed and it saved me having to endure Turtle Beach support for any path forward. Of course not everyone will experience these issues, but for me to experience all of this in such a short time I do worry for the longevity of the device - especially at a price of 180 quid!

Better than an Elite.
After having two official “Elite”. (Mk1&2) all of which failed (one had stick drift straight out of the box) so actually three in total. I was reluctant to buy another expensive controller. I watched a few reviews and took a gamble on the turtle beach. Happy to say glad I did. Great controller. Feels good in the hand. Great build quality and really good responsive controller. Hugely customisable and worth the expense if you can afford it. Only thing that’s a very minor downside is the battery life. Do t get me wrong it’s fine but if you have all the lights, screen, rumble etc on you will NOT get 30hrs of battery life. Not a chance probably 15 at a push, which is still good. To counter that if you have the dock connected via USB to your console it’s never an issue as always charged and ready. Another plus point is this method allows the controller to switch on the console by pressing the home button. I game a lot and if your a serious gamer and want a better controller than the standard Xbox one this is recommended. Avoid the Xbox Elites at all costs build quality is terrible. Buy one if these instead you won’t regret it. 👍
