ProKeeper Herb Keeper – 1-Piece, White, with Removable Silicone Drain Plug, BPA-Free Plastic

I keep many types of greens in this container, primarily dandelion greens, mustard greens, and turnip greens. Much of my produce will stay greens and crisp for Weeks! My picky tortoise loves when his produce is fresh and crunchy, so you can imagine he was even more delighted than me about this purchase. The keeper itself is easy to clean, the material is sturdy. It’s also very light, and easy to stack in my fridge. It is quite large, so it usually goes best in the door shelf. All things considered, it’s affordable, it has never leaked (even when I fill it up well above the line), and the quality speaks for itself. Never suffer from rotten greens again!

I'm obsessed with these things! And as a lifelong cook, I encourage everyone I know to have at least one in their kitchen. Here's why: There are so many gimmicky kitchen devices these days. You can fall down a rabbit hole of neat kitchen gadgets tailor-made for one specific task (like separating eggs or chopping veggies or destemming kale) that seem like they would be SO helpful and make prep work or storage or cleaning or cooking itself much easier. But 99% of these kitchen gadgets aren't worth the time. Trust me. You'll rarely use them. They'll clutter up vital drawer or counter space. And they'll be difficult to clean. A good cook with good technique can efficiently use the most basic kitchen tools, used for millenia, to get the job done - a nice cutting board, sharp knives, a sauce pan that heats evenly, and clean hands etc. But not these. These herb keepers do something that no cling wrap, tupperware, wet paper towel, or designated fridge crisper drawer can do. They take fresh herbs that might last a week in the fridge at best and extend their life to 3, 4, 5, or even 6 weeks. I’m not joking. Countless times I’ve purchased herbs at the store, stored them “properly” in the fridge, only to find they had partially wilted by the time I needed them a few days later. These herb keepers have solved that problem. I no longer have to fret about whether or not I have fresh herbs on hand for the recipe I’m making that night. Because with these herb keepers, I always do. I can’t say for certain why these make such a night & day difference compared to the other usual methods of storing fresh herbs. But it’s probably a combination of several factors — 1. The herbs are in an enclosed environment to keep humidity high (same concept as crisper drawers). 2. The herbs are upright like how they grow naturally. 3. The stems are submerged in water allowing the plant to continue to uptake water. 4. Less oxygen exposure. Also, these herb savors are MUCH larger than all the other ones you’ll find on Amazon. I won’t mention brand names, but most herb savers on Amazon are not nearly large enough to accommodate an entire bunch of parsley or cilantro or dill. But these do. They are just the right size and rarely does any herb go wasted because it couldn’t all fit. As a testament to my satisfaction with these herb keepers, I’ve included photos which show organic dill and parsley that I purchased over 4 weeks ago and are still good. Here a couple tips that will help you get the best use out of these devices. 1. After purchasing, wash your herbs thoroughly. Then, DRY them thoroughly with a salad spinner and/or paper towels. Herbs placed in the herb keeper that are visibly wet will go bad much quicker than dry ones. Drying is essential! 2. Do NOT overcrowd your herbs. If the bunch of herbs you bought is unusually large, don’t try to stuff it all in there. The herbs need room & space to breath. Overcrowding will speed up decay. It’s better to remove some than to try to “herb-keep” them all. 3. Make sure to replace the water at least every 5-7 days. Try not to wait until the water turns slightly brown-ish. 4. If you see any individual stems/leaves that are beginning to go bad, swiftly remove them. 5. Cut an inch off the base of the stems before inserting and make sure the herbs aren’t too tall that they’re hitting the lid.

This works great as a keeper for kale too. I washed them, put them in with water at the bottom and in to the refrigerator (they were right from the store but were not crisp more like wilted), and then the next time I took them out they were crisp and just like they had been picked. They have lasted a lot longer in the container than any other way I have used.

This herb and asparagus keeper is a dream buy. It sits on my frig door, I changeout the water every week and herbs and asparagus stay fresh for 2+ weeks, practically unchanged from the day they were bought. This saves me so much time, when I can buy them ahead of time and not feel like I have to use them in a recipe the same day I buy them. Great product. Pleasantly surprised how well it works.

Better than the oldest model but acrylic is thinner than the older model. Pricey!

Perfect for fresh asparagus. I have a lot of this brand so I ordered this with knowledge of the brand. Keeps asparagus fresh for longer.

I always have recipes that call for green onions as garnish, so I need like one stalk. But i have to buy them in bunches. I don't cook enough that I use up the bunch before it starts getting gross. This thing really works to keep the green onions fresh for longer. It's quite big, probably bigger than I need for green onions. I don't think this would be big enough to dump in the whole bag of carrots. It looks like it would fit maybe 6-8 carrot stalks. It also wouldn't be tall enough to just dump the celery bunch in there. The celery would need to be cut maybe in half first. But i want to get more for left over produce. I always see to have 3 carrots leftover or half a celery thing. I do like that it has a mechanism inside that pulls the produce up so you don't have to stick your hand inside. Fits in my fridge nicely and doesn't take up a lot of space. I haven't washed it yet, but it come apart easily and looks easy to wash.

Item as described, made well, easy to use, color was just like the photo, lid closed nicely , fit in the fridge nicely. However, the first time I used it to my surprise I went inside to get the cilantro out and yes it was still nice and fluffy just like the day I bought it. However it smelled horrible and it was growing some sort of fungus or going bad. I'm not sure what it was but it did not work the way it's supposed to. I only left it in there 3 days. I did return the item because for the price it didn't make it worth it to try it again. I just went back to putting a paper towel in the bag with the cilantro and making sure I eat it within 3 days.

Pros: This keeps my herbs fresh in the fridge for WEEKS! Can put multiple herbs in the same container Cons: Takes up some fridge space but if you use fresh herbs weekly, it's worth it You have to trim the stems every now and again to keep them fresh You have to change the water when it starts to look a little murky but fast and easy to do

Excelente producto, realmente mantiene muy frescas las hierbas y es súper fácil cambiarle el agua, los únicos “peros” que le pondría es que si es muy grande entonces si tienes un refrigerador pequeño pues te va ocupar mucho espacio, es mejor para los de dos puertas, y también el tapón para drenar el agua viene suelto y no está muy apretado, yo sé que tarde o temprano se va terminar perdiendo, fuera de eso vale totalmente la pena

Fantastic! Excellent size and can fit up to 2 bunches of herbs, currently I have a bunch each of coriander and parsley, I’ve squished them in because they were large bunches (just cut off the bottom of the stalk) which I thought might make them go off sooner but they are thriving! Most herb keepers are way too small, this is great. This is one of those products I wish I’d bought sooner because for the first time ever I’m actually able to get through a whole bunch before it goes bad. Honestly so impressed!
