Incredible value when on sale. The quality is just unmatched, it's well worth it even when it's not on sale. I’ve tried a lot of barrier repair products, and honestly, this one blew me out the water. The Ordinary’s barrier serum works better for me than both La Roche-Posay Cicaplast and the Cetaphil Ceramide Serum. If your skin barrier is compromised this is what you need. After microneedling or repairing your skin from overzealous tretinoin, it won't sting or cause further irritation, and you really do heal much faster. I've switched out my 7 step K beauty routine for just this. It's lightweight, doesn't pill, it really just makes your skin feel like healthy and hydrated skin. No stickiness, just moisture. Perfect under makeup.

I have extremely sensitive skin, and when I say that, I really mean it. I have gone through so many products that I’ve had to either give away or throw out because they give me hives or contact dermatitis. I also struggle a lot with skin redness, dryness, and texture issues. I have EDS (if you know, you know) which also causes me issues with my skin. I’m also very sensitive to scents. This product has been amazing. I use it day and night, and have been for a couple months now. No reactions so far! Even when my skin has been in a flare up of sensitivity, it’s soothing and doesn’t burn or irritate things more. I truly believe it’s been helping to improve my skin barrier and calm things down. If I miss a day or two, I can definitely see things getting worse again. It’s incredibly easy to use and leaves a nice glow on your skin afterwards. Great for days you’re not wearing makeup! But also works well under makeup as well. You also just can’t beat the price point. It’s so fairly priced, and you get a lot of product. I’ve picked up several The Ordinary products over the past six months since discovering them, and you honestly cannot go wrong with this brand. Their ingredients are transparent and simple, and I haven’t reacted to anything I’ve tried. I’ve started recommending them to all my family and friends, and had a couple people already make the switch. It works better than products 4 times the price. Truly an amazing company and an amazing product.

This serum is amazing if your skin barrier needs support. It feels very lightweight, absorbs quickly, and layers beautifully with the rest of my skincare without pilling. I’ve noticed my skin feels more elastic, calmer, and less irritated, especially on days after using actives like retinol. It doesn’t have a strong scent, which I personally appreciate since my skin can be sensitive. Application is very easy, the dropper works well and the texture spreads smoothly without feeling sticky or heavy. For the price, the quality is excellent. You’re getting a soothing, barrier-support formula that truly works without being expensive. Definitely recommend, especially if you’re looking for something lightweight that dries quickly and supports skin recovery.

I have mild rosacea with redness and milia. I've tried compound prescriptions and layering OTC products with little to no effect, which often caused stinging. I patched tested The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum with no negative reaction. I've been using this every night along with The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA for the past 3 weeks. The redness has diminished greatly and milia has even reduced. I don't wear makeup so my skin used to look very red during video conferences, and now my skin looks normal on camera. I still haven't experienced any stinging or discomfort, which is amazing. The serum goes on smooth and spreads easily. There is no noticeable fragrance. The pink color is weird and does show on the skin until it absorbs. It tacky feeling goes away once it absorbs after several minutes Overall I am very pleased with results. The price is great since it looks like one bottle will last 2+ months for me.

This serum feels soothing right away and helps reduce redness with consistent use. It gives a nice boost of hydration without feeling heavy or greasy. The results aren’t instant, but over time the skin barrier does feel more balanced. A great addition for sensitive or irritated skin.

If your skin reacts easily to products or seems to be angry or even itchy & irritated- you need to try this serum. Less is more with this product. Use a few drops- just enough to spread around and absorb instantly. Any remaining residue will pill up later. Gross 🤢 It's really great to hydrate and soothe your skin, while also helping it to be more resilient and less sensitive overall. We have dry, windy winters and I use this under a good moisturizer to keep my face from being parched. I recently used this on my legs- I was traveling & had used a hotel soap and they were so dry and itchy that I couldn't sleep. The hotel lotion wasn't doing much so I decided to give this a try- it couldn't hurt right? They felt instantly cooled and soothed PLUS the stubborn crepey dryness that no lotion can seem to touch was noticably waaaay better!! I use it 2-3 times a week on my arms & legs in summertime & my skin feels plumped and when I follow up with lotion I have a nice glow. A little pricey for body use, but honestly not that bad and it actually works!

I have been using this a month now so its time to leave an honest review because i know the pain (and expense) of finding things that actually work. Bought to help out with a compromised barrier, due to use of a new LED mask, regular use of retinol and also, Perimenopausal skin in general just. I really felt i needed some extra care especially with the winter drying out my skin on top of everything. I was red and rashy around my cheeks. It has indeed been effective, not a miracle but it has gone a long way towards protecting my skin from these harsh elements. My skin bounces back better after the retinol without the stinging and peeling I used to get after using the product. As for redness im definately less red and less reactive. Thankfully i always take pics and date them, under the same lighting conditions, so i can tell if a new product is worth the hype. Also, an unrelated red rash I had on my neck has cleared up also with this product. I would note that it has taken using this once or twice, every day, for one month, for these results. See photos. In terms of the product itself I would say the following, it is quite a thick consistency so I am through half the bottle already as it does not spread easily and absorbs quickly, and it can be a little sticky, it does pill under products of other brands but not the ordinarys brand. I have been using alot though, both on face and neck. These are not things I can deduct stars for because the thing about the ordinary is that they are providing products that actually work and work well at a much more affordable price point and it does exactly what I needed it to do. If I wanted all those extras (like more of it or a thinner consistency even) I would honestly expect to pay more for them and its not the ordinarys responsibility to ensure their product works with other brands in terms of the pilling. If youre struggling with barrier issues then this product will help, it seems to soothe, support, and facilitate the skins own healing of itself as opposed to directly repairing it by some magical means lol. I have used the rest of the ordinary range of products specifically for aging, for almost a year now, and have very surprisingly noted a marked difference in my skin over a year. A friend recommended to me, after her dermatologist recommemded to her. My point being that with the ordinary products, this one and others, consistency of use is what makes a difference and using for a long time. The ordinary state this and having tried the range for long enough I can say that this is true for all the products ive tried. Id note here also if you contact the ordinary direct they will actually write you up a full routine and thats been very handy especially in terms of what to use, or not use together, and the routine was emailed to me after contacting their customer service on site. Very helpful. I come to Amazon if i want the products delivered faster as im so impatient and this serum does what it says it will. I cant fault it because it is so very hard to find things that actually work these days, even harder to find at an affordable price point. 38 year old sensitive skin on a bit of a budget, found yet another effective solution from a well known affordable brand that is backed by science and actually delivers.
