Question 1

I have use it internals of an o/u receiver.Spray on and blow it out was the method.Good cleaner but metal parts seem dry.should i have left on longer?

Accepted Answer

I have used G96 exclusively on my firearms since discovering over 50 years ago, so I believe I know as much about it as anyone who responds to you.
G96 is NOT a “cleaner” and should not be used as such. The purpose of G96 is to LUBRICATE and to provide a PROTECTIVE FILM AGAINST RUST. it is the best protection against rust that I have ever encountered. In 50 years I have NEVER had rust form on any gun’s metal surface that had been wiped with G96. ALL OILS, INCLUDING G96, WILL SOFTEN WOOD IF LEFT ON WOODEN GUN STOCKS, therefore it is for metal surfaces ONLY.

Question 2

Is this product safe for chrome lined barrels?

Accepted Answer

Yes it is safe for use on any type gun metal. I've used this exclusively for 50 years on guns in salt atmosphere with NO rust ever. Excellent product.

Question 3

Will this product damage "bluing" on the outside of the rifle. Can it be used on the outside barrel as well as clean and lubricate the bore?

Accepted Answer

Best gun cleaning product ever! I have used it for years with absolutely no harm to any firearm--blued, stainless, or parkerized. Safe for polymer, wood, and laminate stocks too! G96 + Bore Snake = fast clean up! It is an amazing product and smells great too! I wipe down the barrels of all my guns with a light coating of G96 before storing back in the safe. Wouldnt think about putting them up for the season without some G96 to help keep the corrosion gremlins at bay! Might still want to keep a bottle of Butch's Bore Shine handy as well. Not sure how thoroughly it cleans out lead and copper fouling...so just in case...

Question 4

Is this an aresol can? How does it compare to Ballistol?

Accepted Answer

This is an a aerosol can. The product serves the same function as Ballistol. I have been using G96 Gun Treatment for over 40 years and love it.
