The small yet mighty Tortoise Series Tripod has been developed for those looking for a compact, lightweight travel tripod, that punches above its weight when it comes to weight capacity and stability. Without the addition of a center column, the diameter of a folded Tortoise is just 3.1in (8cm) making it extremely portable and easy to stow in a backpack. There are two types of Tortoise Series tripods available, one for photo that features a flat platform to mount the head and another for video that features a ball levelling device to mount the head on. There are five models for photo, all in carbon fiber with weight capacities up to 44lb (20kg) and weighing from just 1.27lb (0.58kg), meaning there is sure to be a model to suit most photographer's requirements. There are two video models available, both made from lightweight carbon fiber and able to support up to 44lb (20kg).

Perfect for a star tracker base! The leveling head is amazing and makes sure I'm perfectly level before trying to align to celestial north.

I’m super pleased with this tripod I have a Swarovski tripod (I think made by Gitzo). It’s definitely better, but this is close in quality for half the price!

Hope you like sand
All in all, this tripod is pretty good. It’s solid, light, and I like everything except one really bad detail. The material they used for the locking mechanisms on the legs, and the grip towards the top of the tripod. The material is so sticky, that sand-dirt-dust literally sticks to the material. If you go to adjust a leg, sand is now all over your hands, waiting to be spread all over your camera gear. The sand will also get inside the threads and ruins the threading. I was in Moab and was constantly having issues with this tripod. Idk why they would choose this material for a tripod lock, my Induro tripod has a nice finish in the locks, in which sand dirt and dust simply does not stick to the mechanism. For $300, I’d have to recommend another model from Benro, or just buy from someone else, as I’ve written them about this and they won’t do anything about it.

Für mich perfekt
Für die Landschaftsfotografie und als Ergänzung zu meinem Rollei Ci6 Carbon Reisestativ und dem Benro BAT Ministativ perfekt. Robust aber entsprechend schwer, ohne Komplikationen auf- und abbaubar, Levellingplate. Von den 6 in dieser Preisklasse getesteten für mich definitiv das Beste. Jederzeit wieder.
