I love this little thing. It sits somewhere between a real professional tool and a toy. It's very small and portable, battery life is pretty good, and it can make a wide range of sounds. Getting a whole track devoted to Tonic is a huge upside; the drum sounds are deep and customizable, and the sequencer is great. Biggest limiting factors are that you are limited in terms of the sounds you can apply to the samples, and also there is two-voice polyphony: one synth sound and one drum sound on any given step. However, despite these limitations, the possibilities are still pretty deep, and chaining patterns together in a pseudo-"song mode" is possible. Overall, for $100, it's a great buy for anyone who loves synthesizers and music production. I wouldn't recommend this to a first-time synth buyer but if you already have a collection and want something fun and diverting, this is the one to get.

I hereby declare the need in our lovely planet earth for a special edition PO with phonemes from the MIKUVERSE to grace our ears in syllables galore! Wondaful device, clever, smart, teenage, pocketable, playable, sharable, snackable, so many good things about this... leaving me with just one great big desire, which is ANOTHER ONE with the cool benefit of HATSUNE MIKU voice samples instead of the (very good) default set which is contained within this awesome unit. If you look at youtube you'll find many people who say this is THE best pocket operator because it's totally unique in the music world. Nothing quite like it!

As the title says, it was a lot of fun. Recording voices and making beats was awesome. If you are looking to get into the PO scene, I'd suggest getting a Cheaper one first. The Arcade would be a good start. Sad to say, I had issues with mine and I was forced to return it. No matter what brand of AAA I put in it, I would randomly shut off and I was forced to manually reset it every time. Which if you don't own a PO, removing the batteries is a sketchy process. 5-Stars because it's a great product, I am just unlucky.

Items sold as new need to be actually new. I purchased this PO-35 as new, but received a unit in plastic packaging. Once opened, I noted the hang tag was missing / broken off. The rip-to-open cardboard strip on the side of the packaging was missing. The plastic screen protector film was missing. There were no instructions in the instructions compartment of the packaging. The item was obviously used, whether it was a return or refurbished, it WAS NOT NEW. This is not acceptable business practice. In addition, the audio output jack does not work. And the unit is not functioning properly, as the recording and assignment of sounds does not work consistently. I had really looked forward to playing this device, but there is no way I'm going to waste any more money on Pocket Operators. Stay away, save your money.

The PO 35 is awesome (5 stars) but it was sold as ‘new’ and arrived with the package already opened and had clearly been used. Everything seems to be working correctly but I wouldn’t have payed full price had I known it was used. Plenty of good deals on other sites for second hand equipment.

The product itself is good. But be weary when ordering. It says "new", but when i got it, the original box had been open (and taped back), and the hanger was already snapped off and gone. Quite disappointing.

It takes a little to figure out the quirks and get proficient, but it sure is a lot of fun. I just wish I was able to store a lot more sounds. The 15 sounds slots go quick and you end up doing backups (which is super nice you can). Just make sure your backups are recorded in stereo. Keep in mind the recordings are a synthesized version of your audio, if you want sampling or more faithful recordings, then look at the PO-33 K.O.
