Vintage English Photochrom Image 25 x 19cms. A unique range of hand crafted mouse mats by designAsign - one of the UK's leading specialist gift providers.The original Photochrom prints are colorized images which are produced from black-and-white photographic negatives via the direct photographic transfer of the negative onto lithographic printing plates. The process is considered a photographic variant of chromolithography, a broader term referring to color lithography in general. The photochrom process was most popular in the 1890s when true color photography was first being developed but was still commercially impractical.Each mouse mat is 4.5mm thick with rounded corners and printed here in England, in-house, using a technology called dye sublimation. The inks penetrate the surface of the mouse mat at high temperature, under pressure, which is then quickly cooled leaving a vibrant image. This printing process enables images to be printed in full colour and at a high resolution which makes it possible to reproduce both solid colour and photographic images faithfully. We use the most colour stable inks and accurate colour profiling software available to ensure we supply the best value mouse mat available.The mouse mats we provide are the 'textile topped' mouse mats which have a white fabric surface which is bonded to a heavy duty natural rubber base. Consequently these types of mouse mats have great lay-flat and non-slip qualities. These mouse mats are still very much recommended today for use with the latest optical mice and because of their natural rubber base, they are arguably more environmentally friendly than some other types of mouse mats. (These are not laser printed mouse mats with the print slipped under a hard topped surface.)New and packaged in a crystal clear display wrap, each order is despatched in protective padded envelope packaging.
