Extra lens capacity is worth it for some
Fits easily in the shimoda 35L size backpack. The 200-600 lens fits inside however the 400-800 is just slightly too long.

Cheaper Alternative to Backpack
I was debating on this core unit or a backpack for my trip overseas. The thing with camera bags is you pay 4x more just because it's a camera bag... So opted for this, it fits perfectly in my carry-on with rollers while keeping my equipment secure from everything else in the carry-on. This also fits perfect in a nice small backpack I have that usually travel with, it fills it 90%, but still it fits and it handy. If Shimoda is watching, I was looking at the 25l-35l variants of urban explorer and explorer but couldn't justify that price over other name brand hiking backpacks.

LOVE THIS CAMERA STORAGE!
I bought this Shimoda Extra Large unit to be a storage at home for my camera equipment and then I can pull out what I need to put in my backpack when I head on the go. This unit is much sturdier than I expected and holds a lot! The inserts are sturdy but also easy to move around to fit what is needed. These inserts can go in a backpack, but I think this one would be really big for a backpack. I fit 4 lenses, 1 body, 1 flash, a grip, accessories (batteries, filters, etc), and my gorillapod tripod in this!! My lenses (Canon 70-300L, 100L, and 16-35L) all fit upright in this which is great! I was worried about height on this unit, but it is great!! Highly recommend this!! It is pricey, but a great storage alternative than others!

Expensive as hell but good design.
You can see mine here in my Action X50 V2. Worked great on our trip to Portugal. Fits my Canon r7 with 800mm F11 and my EOSR with a wide angle zoom in the side pocket. Also crammed in my drone, controller, and batteries for everything and a few other toys.

Just buyit.. But please read review
I live Shimoda designs... This is my second bag, and now I have a 40L and a 30 L. This large mirrorless is what's recommended for the Action X 30L series, but I'd recommend sticking to the medium instead. While I do love the carry capacity, it eliminates about 80% of the upper compartment if I don't unfurl the top. Basically I have to tuck the upper section to a side because the large cube takes up most of its space. That said I can carry 2 Canon R6, 24-105, Sigma 150-600 C and some adapters and teleconverters.with room for dust bulb and batteries. You just have to get creative on its layout. Bottom line, if I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten the large cube for the 40L bag, and the medium for the 30L. In the 40L I have the DSLR medium and small cubes.

Great fit if you need the space.
Well built. Fits perfectly in the Shimoda 30L packs. The extra height lets us hold our Sigma 500, mounted, with the hood in the ready position. It leaves room for other lenses of course. The light color is helpful in finding the smaller items. Combined with the padding built into the pack, we expect this will protect the lenses well.

A Must Have For Your Shimoda
Love this addon for my Shimoda backpack. Helps keep the main compartment of my Shimoda organized and a consistent shape, which is great for travel. It comes with a sleeve that zips up to make sure everything stays contained. I use this on all my shoots and have traveled all over the world with it. This size compartment is perfect for organizing the bulk of your backpack while keeping the top portion separate and free to store any loose items you need to access quickly.
