ABUS U-lock Granit XPlus 540 - Bike lock with XPlus cylinder - security level 15 - Black/grey

Ot does everything it should. Easy to push on, turn of the key and you are done. Why buy any other (decent make), when you can have ofthese. It is German, not made in China. When you average out its cost over just a few years, it is worth it.

Summary, an excellent strong lock and you will not find anything stronger. This model is p/n 111792 which is the 300 mm reach model without any bike bracket/holder. There are 6 models manufactured by Abus, some with a 230 mm reach and there are two types of bike bracket/holder, the EaZyKF and the USH540 . Thus in the 300 mm reach models you can have without a bike bracket/holder OR with either of two bike bracket/holders. The same with the 230 mm reach models. EaZy KF – Bracket with comfortable one hand operation for easy mounting on round frames with a diameter of 28-36 mm USH 540 – Universal bracket with easy mounting on round frames with a diameter of 15-35 mm This review, and the one I purchased, being the 300 mm reach without a bike bracket holder. IMPORTANT to note that this is the latest model 540, there was also a model 54, but if you check the forums and reviews this 54 model had problems with some cosmetic plastic pieces that could be knocked off if you dropped the lock. For the best security you cannot better this lock, and it is rated Gold Secure with a security level of 15 which is the highest that I have seen for any bike lock. Made and designed in Germany by one of the biggest manufacturer of locks. Comes with two keys, one of which has a LED light. Also supplied is a ‘Code Card’ which would enable the owner to order more keys or replace one upon proof of ownership or purchase. On the negative comments I can only list its weight and cost, but then you buy a bike lock like this for the best security. You will not get ultimate security and strength without weight and this of course must cost more. Frankly my bike is worth the expense, plus the inconvenience of making an insurance claim, getting paid and then trying to buy another bike….. Better to lock it securely with a lock like this.

Great item

I bought the version with two keys and quick release mount and long shackle. The q/r mount feels sturdy and well made, but is it really necessary? Why do you ever need to take it off the bike one handed? You always need to use two hands to unlock it before use anyway! A spare key bought later is very expensive so I am pleased to have two. Main issue is that it does rattle (between the shackle and the 'locking bar') whenever the road is a bit rough and this might annoy some people - it is a quiet rattle but still noticeable. The non-q/r mounting bracket might hold it all together better and stop the rattling It is a chunky lock and hopefully will dissuade would be thieves Instructions could be clearer

Best bike lock available

Good size, so easy to attach my expensive e-bike to bike racks and street furniture. Very sturdy, giving great confidence in my bike's security. The led light in one of the keys is a nice touch. I strongly recommend it if keeping your bike is important to you.

It seems to be a good product but I dont thk anyone has tried to steal my bike so...its quite heavy. Make sure you dont drop it on your foot.

FYI does NOT come with its own mount! Had to buy this mount which works super well so far!: ABUS Zubehör USH 540, 18576 Mount Diamond rated (highest) by the British Bike lock review site (too lazy to google name), has a great high quality hand feel and substantial, very long and fits well with my ebike with 2.4" wide tires - able to go through frame -wheel-frame then lock it around a pole with ease! Less then five 5lbs, saves my back vs the form 10lb Krypto chain that I used - no comparison whatsoever. Thank you ABUS!!!;) PS for some reason the lock feels REALLY NICE to open and close, a very substantial high quality sophisticated high tech clicky kinda experience:)

Tough looking, easy to use and worth the cost of security. The 540 is there as a deterrent and not guaranteed to hold off determined E bikes thieves. I feel more secure knowing that some of these mugs may walk away looking for an easier steel. Well recommended heavy duty U lock.

Sehr solide, macht einen absolut hochwertigen Eindruck. Bei meinem E-Bike (Cube Kathmandu) passt es nicht um die vordere Stange, aber es lässt sich gut hinten anbringen und schützt damit gleichzeitig den Hinterreifen. Für vorne habe ich ein extra Faltschloss. Das Schloss ist leichtgängig und rastet gut ein. Der Schlüssel muss im Schloss bleiben, wenn es offen ist, was mir zusätzliche Sicherheit gibt, da ich meinen riesigen Schlüsselbund immer wieder einpacke und damit nie vergesse, das Schloss auch anzubringen. Achtung, es wiegt nicht wenig. Und es ist zu lang, um z.B. in meinen Fahrradkorb richtig reinzupassen, ich bewahre es während der Fahrt in einer Seitentasche auf. Für den Preis ein super Produkt!
