#4 Homax 106607-06 Rhodes American Steel Wool Pad Extra-Course #4, 16-Pack

Here we are with another GOOD, BAD & the UGLY review. This time for steel wool. Usually this is used for cleaning but this was used to keep mice out of an apartment. Let's jump in to the review and see if this is recommended or not. GOOD: Get a lot of steel wool for your money Thick, sharp and abrasive Tougher than nails Easy to use (wear a thick glove or risk cutting yourself O.O) Any creatures that attempt to move it or bite through, it becomes their worst/last day (careful, this is also an UGLY) BAD: Expensive on Amazon (cheaper at the 99 cent store when they are in stock) Sharp (can easily through a nitrile glove, however, this is also a GOOD) UGLY: Anyone or anything playing with this can get seriously injured (be careful when placing in spots that are easily accessible to kids/pets) Overall, I highly recommend this product. It will greatly reduce any pest/rodent problem you have when stuff in unwanted holes. If the product is sold at your local discount store, I recommend you get it there rather than Amazon as chances are, it will be cheaper. I haven't and will not use this for cleaning, but I can recommend this as a tool in your kit to reduce home pests. :D

Used these pads to keep critters from getting into our house through the end caps. Squirrels got into our attic, called a wildlife expert to remove them and release them at a local wildlife refuge. He had a plastic device he put on the end caps, but as time passed, they fell out. These pads are just as effective.

First time using steel wool. Had some mice issues this past winter and I live in an older house that was built in the 30s that we renovated as best we could but there are still plenty of cracks around the house. Bought this to stuff the holes to keep the mice from going through. Won't say it stopped them but it did help somewhat. My only complaint is how it is packaged. Only has an opening at the top and you wind up pulling out more than one pad which pulls out lots of strings creating a mess. Other than that, good material, good product.

Product is as advertised!

Needed something to remove old rust on some knives and this was recommended on several videos. Package comes with 16 pads, I’ve used one so far and was able to remove a lot of the rust. I also used on my electrical stove to remove grease and works awesome. The only negative point is that it kinda falls apart, kinda like small hairs all over the place. They are tricky to pick up but overall works fine.

I've used this to protect holes and try to keep mice out. It works as a great temporary solution until you can get the holes patched and sealed.

I had to wear thick sink gloves to use this because the steel would stab my fingers, I was hoping it would be similar to SOS pads but without soap in them but I was mistaken, on the positive side of the review it cleaned very well, I was able to get off old burnt on grease in my pans without damaging the pan.

Steel wool has many uses around the house. Living in the country with animals I find these to work well as a rodent deterrent.
