So glad I purchased this machine
I was looking at a lot of the fitness machines available online, wanting something that would work many different parts of the body and also strengthen my leg muscles without stressing my bad knees, so was extremely happy when I found this rowing machine. When I opened and read the assembly instructions, I was a bit intimidated - it looked like so many parts! Rest assured - this was easy to put together with the help of the video found on their "help with your item product support" page once purchased. I had originally thought I was missing some parts to finish assembly, but after watching the help video for this product, I learned that the pieces were attached to the unit, and all that was required was to unscrew and reattach to the unit, then tighten up with the tools included. I used the rower after assembling and can already tell this is something I will use regularly. It is quiet enough so I can listen to music or watch TV while using. I have it initially on a low resistance until I can build up to a mid-point which is my goal. I hope to lose a few pounds by using this rower, but also retain or increase muscle in my arms and legs, and I feel that this will do the job. I am 135 lbs., but love that the machine will support up to 350 lbs. since my husband has shown interest in using this, and he admits to about 240 lbs. The machine feels sturdy and comfortable. I took the advice of another reviewer that left a pair of shoes anchored in the foot straps to help my feet from slipping out of the foot pads (I just slip into the shoes and go). I will leave the rower laid out on the floor rather than standing up after use since it is near a wall that won't interfere with traffic in our den, but it is a nice feature to stand if necessary. Overall, I am happy with this unit and plan to use ongoing. I like the range of motion using the arms, back, and legs with this workout. I was not looking to buy an expensive gym-level rower so I was impressed that this rower is rated highly, gives a decent workout, and is priced affordably. Gotta go row now!

Nice rowing machine
There isn't much I can add to the thousands of reviews that have already been posted but here are some of the things that concerned me and my take on them. Build quality: Some have said that this is poorly made and that the foot holders are flimsy and the straps that hold your foot on are not enough or in the wrong place. My take: The build quality is excellent. All the screws and parts fit perfect for assembly. The steel is thick and sturdy. The paint did chip where I tightened one of the screws so understand this is painted steel not powder coated steel. The foot holders are solid plastic and there is a thick strap that goes across the top of the foot. Maybe they upgraded this after complaints. I have a size 7 foot and the strap fits where it should across the top of my foot. You should wear shoes while working out and use good form. Computer: Some reviews note this does not work or work as expected My take: It works perfectly. I can set it to display only reps, or only time or only.... This is a very rudimentary computer that work by hitting a button each time the seat slides. I use it for reps only as that is spot on. For calories I have smart watch that tracks my fitness. Hydraulics: Some note that there is no difference in resistence from #1 to #12. My take: There is resistence from #1 to #12. Is #1 super easy, kind of. After several reps you do feel it. Is #12 super hard to pull, no. There is a change of resistence but if you are looking for a professional grade pull this is not it. If you understand that reps and form are important this is good enough. It's probably best to use this as a warm-up or cool-down machine and not your total daily workout. Seat comfort: Some say this is not comfortable. My take: It is hard plastic but I'm not on it long enough for it to be uncomfortable, so I give it a thumbs up. Other take-aways: SUPER EASY TO ASSEMBLE! Honestly, an 8 year old could assemble this. The parts are clearly marked and the hardware pack is clearly labeled. I was very impressed with the simplicity. Weight: It weighs 35lbs! Easy to move with one person. You might need 2 persons to get it up or down stairs only because of the handles make it awkward as they move. I like the option for using full motion with the oars. All in all I am VERY please with this home rowing machine. Maybe I got a well made machine or maybe Sunny Health and Fitness took consumer gripes to heart and made changes. For $121 I thought I got a good buy but now I see it for $114 so it's a real steal now!

It's worth the money
I really like this machine so far. I've only had it for a day so I cant say how effective it'll be for weight loss, but having used it 2x since it was put together this afternoon, I can definitely say you will break a sweat easily. What I like about this: It's easy to use and doesnt take up a huge amount of space which is a plus when you need an effective workout in a small setting. It was fairly simple to put together - but I recommend having a second set of hands because it is a bit awkward to put together (even with 2 people it was a little awkward). It's sturdy and holds your weight and it is easy to move the seat and handles to workout - I havent gone higher than the 4th tension setting yet because I need to carefully work my way up to that due to health issues. You will absolutely get a good workout in even if you're only using it for 10 minutes at a time. Things that I dont like or feel could be improved upon: The seat is a bit uncomfortable. The listing says it's a "wide" seat but I would call it narrow because it's really only about 10-12" wide at a best guesstimate. It's also sort of hard, so if you have any hip or tailbone issues, you may want a cushion for it. The foot "pedals" have an awkward strap on it that require you to wear shoes which is a downside for me because of health issues, but if you dont wear them your feel will eventually slide out of the straps - even with shoes, it's still possible no matter how well the strap is tightened. It would be nice if there was something to secure the seat in place for ease of getting on and off of the machine for people with mobility issues (like me). Also, the seat is a bit wobbly with the way it attaches to the bar. And lastly, the grip on the handlebars is weird - after my first full 10 minute usage of the machine, it feels like it's already starting to wear off because the texture is very off-putting - so if you have sensory issues at all, you may want to get some sports tape or something to cover it with. Overall, Im pretty happy with my purchase and I definitely recommend this product. If that changes, I'll be sure to update this review.

Works the entire body
Price, Delivery, Unboxing and Assembly On July 5, 2023, I purchased the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5639 Full Motion Rowing Machine w/350 lb. Weight Capacity and LCD Monitor, Silver. 1K bought within that past month and Amazon's Choice. Overall rating 4.4 from 6,000 customer reviews. Why not? It was hard to overlook a rowing machine for $125. Surprisingly, it arrived within a few days, in one, manageable, big box. I couldn't ask for an easier assembly. With a flawless, descriptive user manual, my 19-year-old niece assembled it in 20 minutes or less. My first week rowing experience The first 3 days were smooth sailing, I rowed 45 minutes each day. I became concerned because the scale would fluctuate between 1-3 lbs. each day I weighed in. By day 4, I spruced up the minutes to 60 because I liked certain features I was beginning to notice. I noticed though that I wasn't burning as many calories as I burned with my elliptical, but my jeans were still falling off my waist. By day 5, I noticed a significant change in my facial components and a slimmer side profile as I looked in the mirror. This is when I believed that this exercise machine was destined to help me achieve my health goals. I also conducted a few searches in quest to discover why my scale was stagnant even though it was evident that I was losing weight. I came across a few videos which explained that my body was burning fat while building muscles, a process called Body Recomposition. I checked off all the signs: 1. Gaining weight 2. Clothes fitting indifferently 3. Building strength 5. Body composition is changing. The only thing I couldn't check off was 4. Getting bulky per Trifectanutrition.com By day 6, I was sore and became concerned about continuing to row or taking a break. So, I took a day off from rowing and decided to do a moderate paced walk in my neighborhood. I did a few stretches, which I think I'm horrible at, but hey. I increased my water intake from 4 cups to 8 cups, to make sure my body isn't dehydrated. By day 7, I'm still mentally gearing up to continue rowing today, while I watch the new episode of one of my favorite reality tv shows. My biggest fear is that I'll be in too much pain to complete an hour of rowing. Pros and Cons One of my favorite things about the rower is that I can drag it anywhere, unlike the $800 elliptical my older brother gifted me some years ago. It's just easy. Switching from indoor to outdoor is a mood changer as well. So, if you're looking for mobility in a rowing machine, this little frugal machine is your guy. I dislike the fewer calories the monitor displays. It seems to burn only a fraction of calories of what the elliptical burns, which I use for only 30 minutes. So, in 60 minutes or the rower I'll burn about 200 calories. In 30 minutes of the elliptical I'll burn 300 calories. However, with the rower, the progress is slower, I guess, but the results are worthwhile, because I'm toning while burning fat. I keep this in mind each time I weigh myself on the scale. Final ratings I've been on my failed weight loss journey for 17 years and I've tried a few machines. I'm rating this rower 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

Good Rowing Machine
This is a good purchase for the money. The assembly was easy, but it did take me a little more than 20 minutes based on some other reviews. I think if it's two people; then, maybe the assembly could go faster. The instructions were great. It is sturdy. It's a good machine to store in a small space. The rowing machine is pretty quiet, and it provides a very good cardio exercise. I'm happy with the machine.

Great Starter Rower - Full Body Workout
Very happy with my purchase. I'm 60+ and I took my time putting it together as I was in no rush - probably total of 3 hrs (I had to redo the arms as I had put the R arm in the L arm socket). Anyway, once assembled, I went to YouTube to find tutorials on best way to use rowing device as I've never had one before. My first workout was very satisfying as I didn't overdo it. Plan on using it 3-4 days a week. This is a good starter rower - I'll upgrade perhaps a year from now but this will work fine for me. I have other Sunny products and they make solid quality exercise equipment at affordable prices.

Almost perfect...
Update: I had to abandon this machine because, for me, it caused "ear strain" (when the inner ear is strained which causes a muffled sound in your ear for hours or days.) I tried it several times and at different times a day. I reduced the time I was on it and changed the tension. Nothing worked. I think it is a well-built, compact machine that delivers as promised, but I can no longer use it. Please be aware of this if you have inner ear issues. **************** I make the same New Year's resolution every year: to lose weight and get healthier. I actually started my new workout program on Jan. 3, until I smashed my toes on the bed frame leg. So, no treadmilling or walking activity for 4 to 8 weeks. I have been wanting a rowing machine for a while and this seemed the perfect time to try it. I tend to buy simpler workout machines that are more streamlined and compact. This Sunny rower is perfect for my needs. It is extremely lightweight, but sturdy (90% welded metal). I can easily move it around my room or reposition it. The assembly instructions are easy to understand and are divided into 4 simple steps. The small hardware corresponds to these steps. (remember that some pieces are already attached to the metal frame.) If you are still having issues, there are a ton of videos online to help. I could not believe how quiet this machine is. You can easily use it in any room without disturbing others, to watch tv, or listen to music. I also liked that the foot rests have Velcro straps that keep your feet secure which was important to me because of my injury. The tension is easy to adjust. The instructions recommend not using the rower for more than 20 minutes to avoid overheating the piston. I watched several videos to learn the rhythm of rowing. I found it very easy to get started right away. (although, I got "ear strain" from working out. Hopefully, it will dissipate.) As far as weight loss, I will have to wait and see. I can already see that this machine is great for toning. Some minor considerations: 1. the unit is very low to the ground. If you have mobility issues or have a hard time getting up and down, another model may be a better choice. 2. the seat is extremely uncomfortable. It is made of dense plastic with some give, but is contoured such that it effects pressure points. I am in the process of retro-fitting the seat with something softer. All in all, I like this machine. It gives me a no-impact, "Zen" workout. It is something I will continue to use. And you can't beat the price for the quality.

Great for the price
I’m a cheapskate, especially with fitness items because I’m also lazy + have MS so some workouts are easier to keep going and spending a lot on something I might not use regularly seems like a bad idea. Enter this rowing machine. Knowing what I know now, I’d likely have spent a bit more on one of their magnetic machines, but for now I am pretty happy. It was easy to put together, no issues there. I’ve used it most days since I received it on February 9th, it’s April 6th now. I have a pretty sedentary lifestyle when not exercising so I really wanted something that could workout my whole body without leaving me in pain or taking all day to burn a respectable number of calories as weight loss is a goal of mine in addition to just being healthier. And this seems to do that for me. I am not sure how good the monitor is as the batteries died almost as soon I put them in and honestly I just use my watch to track my workout as it feels more personalized. So far the only cons have been: - It gets squeaky after a few weeks of use so keep some silicone oil handy. - The hydraulic cylinder - it’s suggested you only use this machine for 20 minutes at a time. I use it for up to 30 at a time. But it does lose the resistance fairly quickly . I once paused a 20 minute workout at the 10 minute mark to answer the door. Came right back and totally lost the resistance for the rest of the workout. Usually that happens somewhere between the 20 and 30 minute mark. Neutral: I am between 5’8” - 5’9” and wouldn’t suggest this machine to anyone more than say 5’10-6’ tall as I almost reach the back of the machine at my height. Things to consider: - I like that this is a full motion arm movement, but once you start using it you’ll likely naturally use the wide arm movement, which I’ve found makes it hard for me to keep pace with workout videos that use a pulley style arm movement. You can use use more narrow but for me anyway that doesn’t feel natural on this machine. - the weight limit is 350 which seems pretty high for this price range, making it more accessible to more people than some of the other cheap rowing machines. Overall: If you’re pretty sure you’d use a rowing machine often, I’d probably save up for a nicer model but for those on a budget or who only do shorter workouts this is more that good enough and is probably one of the better options in its price range, especially for larger folks since it has a 350lb weight limit and many cheaper models don’t support as much weight as this machine does.

Quality at a very reasonable price.
Love it! Easy setup. Love the flexibility of the arms allowing me to change up my upper body workout. I use it every day. Highly recommend.

Easy to assemble and connect to free workouts
Very easy to put together. Does not take a lot of space. Free work out programmes that connect via blue tooth to your tablet or phone. I’m not sure that it would be suitable for a real fitness fanatic, but for someone just wanting to keep mobile and retain some muscle tone, it’s ideal.
