I've had this almost a year- updated! It died
Update! I had this ice maker for just over a year and it died. It had become noisy and then stopped working altogether right after the year mark. I loved it when it worked. I have had this almost a year and no one uses the fridge ice maker anymore. This ice is that perfect crunchy ice that everyone is looking for. I couldn't see paying a huge price for a countertop ice maker when I technically had an ice maker in the fridge. This one has been great. It was easy to use and setup was basically wash it out, plug it in, and fill it up. We have well water so I buy those big jugs of water at Costco to fill it. The price was great, it makes ice in about 6-7 minutes, and the ice is exactly what I wanted. The downside is that it has started to be noisy. I clean it, use bottled water, and It has plenty of space around the machine for air flow. I am hoping that it continues to function. I also wish it was a larger capacity because everyone in my house now takes "mom's ice." However, I hate clutter and appliances on my countertop so for the size of the machine it does make a decent amount.

Pretty darn close!
My hubs LOVES Sonic ice! He craves it! There are a few other restaurants and places that have it and when he finds a place, he always gets an extra cup to munch on it. I've been looking for years to find a counter top ice maker that produces it and for years I could only find the original standalone machine that costs thousands. When people started producing counter top versions, the reviews weren't great. Recently, after several years, I decided to revisited this quest. I found hope in the newer machines that looked like they were getting closer. After pouring over reviews and descriptions, I decided on finally buying him this one for Christmas this year. I'm happy to report: The cubes are the perfect size for crunching! He says it could be just a tad more "watery" (whatever that means -- it's ice -- isn't it naturally watery?? -- But I'm not as fanatical about rabbit poop ice as he is), but he says "it is pretty darn close" and he loves it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The machine produced ice almost instantly. I was impressed by how fast it worked. It's footprint on the counter is about the size of a normal-sized coffee maker. Our knife block with the knives stands taller than this machine. So it doesn't take up much space as I thought it would. The water capacity is pretty decent: it makes about 2 tumblers full of ice -- or 1 32oz convenient store plastic cups -- we'll have to experiment with making extra to store in the freezer but so far hes eating them as fast as its making them 😆 The quality of the machine is mostly plastic but seems sturdy and good. The loudness is not more than the exhaust fan on the stove, but as mentioned it doesn't take long for ice to be produced, so the machine doesn't run long. Over all, this was a great buy!! 👍

My favorite new Appliance... Makes Perfect Soft Ice
This Ice maker makes Perfect Soft Ice. It takes a while to fill up the holder. When it stops I transfer the ice to a freezer bag. This lets me make as much as I need or can fit into my freezer. It shuts off when the ices is full or it runs out of water. After melting a while it cycles back on until full. I bought mine as a scratch or ding deal (almost half price). When it arrived I didn't see any damage. I set it on the counter top for 24 hours before I plugged it in, a half hour later I had two large glasses of ice. It makes a fair amount of fan noise but its in the next room so it doesn't bother me. I can tell when the ice reaches the top and it shuts off. Time for a refill. You can bag up the ice and store it in the freezer to take care of more people. For a party just asked someone to bring a bag of ice. I'd buy another if it only lasted for a few years. Cheaper than buying bags of ice when you factor in the one mile drive or walk to the nearest gas station that charges a few dollars per bag. This works for my needs today and hopefully for years to come.

Looks good but stopped making ice in a year
Nice looking nugget ice maker. It literarily lasted a year in our house. I cleaned it once a month with descaling tablets. I didn’t put anything close to it so that it could let the warm air out through the vents…that’s how our first one burned up. Still our first one lasted three years before it overheated. This one still has “making ice” light on but inside is just warm water.

Tiny Cubes of Chewable Ice…but yeah its as Loud as our Fridge
This unit is the perfect diminutively small size to fit in a kitchen without taking up too much space. We also own an GE Opal which we keep in our home bar area, and the problem with that unit is only its size. This unit which we’ve placed in our kitchen is much smaller than an Opal even without the Opal side tank, but produces ice just as rapidly as that larger competitors. That said, this is a very different product. As others have noted the ice, while chewable, is actually really tiny cubes. They look like what you would get if you took a normal ice tray and put it through a shrinking machine. The quality of the ice is excellent and comes out clear and semi-solid but still soft enough to chew. The ice reservoir is not insulated, but the design lends its self to maintaining a constant level of ice as melted ice is recirculated into the water reservoir. Unlike the GE Opal, there is no place to add a charcoal filter, so if your water tastes terrible or is hard you may want to do as others have done and use bottled. All of this considered, this unit is very loud. I originally thought that reviewers here were exaggerating or hadn’t experienced another product, but I can confirm that this unit is louder than you might expect. Given its diminutive size there just isn’t a lot of material that can absorb or deflect the sound of the condenser and pump. Comparatively its about as noisy or slightly more so than the GE Opal, but that is a much larger unit. This unit is louder than our brand new LG refrigerator, and so we have placed them together so that at least the noise is coming from the same general location. When you consider that a refrigerator is 10-15x larger than this ice maker, that is saying something. Its noisey enough that it may not live on our counter permanently, but may get cleaned up and stored way for when we need its services. Definitely better than ice trays, but definitely as loud as advertised. Time will tell if its as reliable as other machines, but the reason I bought this unit is because of the combination of small size and reported reliability of this brand.

Should of got it sooner
I got the $169 one. Its great for what it is. It's a little loud when it barfs out the ice though. It looks good, a little big but good. The ice is small, soft and chewable. Melts sort of fast in a 16oz glass cup of coke. Not bad if you want something icy/watery. Clean it. The ice gets a strange taste if you don't. I used vinegar and water to clean it on self clean cycle then used distilled water to rinse it out. If the world ended, I'd find a way to make power and hook this thing up to it. Life would suck a little less with a cool drink *wink face thing I can't do the face keyboard nonsense*

Great Ice Maker with a Few Minor Drawbacks
I purchased the Silonn Nugget Ice Maker Countertop, and overall, I'm quite happy with it. This machine produces a good amount of soft, chewable nugget ice that’s perfect for drinks or snacking. Pros: Price: Very affordable compared to similar models. Size: Compact and fits nicely on the countertop without taking up too much space. Convenience: Easy to use and keeps up with our ice needs throughout the day. Design: Sleek and modern, it looks great in my kitchen. Cons: Ice retention: The ice doesn’t stay frozen overnight, so by morning, it has mostly melted. You’ll need to refill the water to start a new batch. Noise level: The machine can be a bit loud while it’s producing ice, but it’s not a deal-breaker for us. If you don’t mind the melted ice overnight and can tolerate some noise during operation, this is a fantastic nugget ice maker for the price. It’s been a great addition to our kitchen!

Soft Ice Nuggets Perfect For Chopping
UPDATE: April 2025 (purchased June 2024), not even a whole year and it started leaking internally. I emailed customer service, no response as of yet. We took it apart to try to fix it based on the manual. It looks like a gasket that has come loose that is unreachable. The interior of the machine is either glued or soldered together. It looks like we will need to get a brand new one. Other than the issue of it leaking, it has been an excellent ice machine. I wish it had lasted longer. I had given it five stars, but knocked it down to three because of lack of customer service and it failing in less than a year. June 2024 So happy with this ice machine! Another reviewer said it would be like Sonic ice and that is absolutely correct. If you like to eat ice, this is the ice machine that gets the job done. If you are anemic, this will be your new best friend. The whole family loves this ice and we never run out. It makes the ice quickly. I have no regrets purchasing this machine. A couple of things to be aware of: 1. You have to wait 24 hours before using it for the first time. The instructions say the machine has to be in the upright position for 24 hours so no damage is done to the machine. There is probably coolant or something that needs to settle. 2. The first couple batches didn’t fill the basket all the way up with ice. As ice was being scooped out and the sensor let the machine know more ice needed to be made, it finally produced enough ice to consistently fill the entire space available. 3. The ice does not freeze well in the freezer. It is delicious directly from the machine, but if you’re thinking of stocking up and putting it in the freezer, you will only find a hard blob of ice. This ice is almost like snow when it’s made. It has a softness to it, almost on the verge of becoming slush. When you put that slushy goodness in the freezer, the liquid holds hands and becomes one big, hard ice structure you have to chip apart.
