Excellent sound and value for money
I got this to replace an old Sony DAVS550 which in its day (25 years ago) was a top piece of kit!. Sadly it was showing its age and kept cutting out. Nowadays I cannot afford to spend what was effectively half a months wages on a surround system so needed something that was reasonably priced. I was prepared to settle for sound that was not as good as I was used to. WOW was I wrong. This is a doddle to set up and connected right away with my Samsung tv and I can use the tv remote to adjust the volume. The soundbar is a neat size and there are no annoying lights on during use. The subwoofer is connected wireless to the soundbar and the two rear speakers are wired to that - no more trailing cables along the room. Switched it on, chose the sound set up I liked and whacked the volume up on Lord of the Rings. Dialogue was crisp and clear with just enough powerful bass to make you feel as if you were among the orc army. A truly cinematic experience. Either technology has come an awful long way or this company just simply know what they are doing!! Can you get better systems? Probably but I doubt it at this price point. It is plenty good enough for me and my slightly deaf musical husband who insisted on playing his latest studio tracks and was suitably impressed.

Sounds great!
So, I didn't wanna break the bank, so I got this one. And it was a great choice! We've had it a few months now, and everyone loves the sound. It's awesome for movies – really immersive. Even better for PS5 or Xbox games. I love feeling like I'm right in the action, but I hate earbuds. This thing makes you feel totally surrounded by the sound.

Surround On A Budget - Do Some Digging First.
I bought this when the price dropped to £169.99. I was not going to hook it up until our building works on the house are completed but could not wait...Anyway, I'll start with the negatives. My TV is a Samsung UE50H6200AKXXU and by default it cannot code signals via hdmi arc to Dolby Digital from internal sources like broadcast TV and external sources like other HDMI. This sort of makes having arc on it pointless. Also, it defaults to PCM output. I do have the choice of DTS output but the Ultimea does not support DTS. My Blu Ray's are mostly DTS so just silence from these. You see where I'm going with this...Anyway, I was going to pack it up and send it back when I released the return window had lapsed. So I thought I'd do some root cause analysis (see previous paragraph) to see if I could get it to work in another way. So I got the optical cable out and gave that a go.The supplied optical cable is a game changer for me. After figuring out I had to take the plastic covers off at each end (took me about 10 minutes to figure that out) I connected my Virgin 360 box to the Ultimea. The Virgin box is what I use for most viewing services. And there it was - Dolby Surround popping up on the Ultimea.A good test for any surround system is the opening titles to 'Indepence Day' where the letters making up the titles break up and fly towards you. The sound of this transfers from the front to the rear. And the Ultimea handles it well.I have the subwoofer beside the sofa and the rears just behind the sofa on some bookshelves pretty close. I have had to turn down the volume of the surround speakers as they are much nearer to the listeners than the soundbar under the TV 8 feet away. The sound is impressive. I think I have the latest firmware as the volume goes all the way to 100. I haven't had it past 55 so far and won't be going any further as I don't want to go deaf.So 4 stars as lack of DTS support means that my Blu Ray's will never be heard properly. I can get them downmixed to PCM by the TV as that is what it does. Thankfully I have a Virgin box and the optical cable to get surround sound. So the lesson I have learnt is that when the renovations are complete, I'll be buying a whole new surround system which can decode DTS and a new TV that has HDMI e-arc and can pass through all surround protocols that it comes across. The Ultimea will be going in the bedroom for the TV there which will hopefully have better surround output for the HDMI arc.So do your research and realise the limitations of the Ultimea and research your existing kit especially if its a bit older. The lack of surround support from my TV is not the Ultimea's fault. The lack of DTS definitely is....

Really good quality for the price
For the price this is a really good piece of kit, the sub has between -6 and +6 so has a massive range and the surround can be turned up and down dependant on what your watching. Although there is no speaker brackets for the 2 surround speakers apart from that can’t fault it

Blown away.
This is amazing for the price. Set up the bass & surround correctly for your room & it’s spot on. Don’t turn them all up to maximum unless you have a huge room as the surround speakers are stupidly powerful as is the sub. Great for sports & movies.

Dialogue sound sacrificed for price.
Sound quality for Dialogue in movies and TV is not the best. Struggle to hear what people are saying. So had to turn the surround sound feature to a low setting which defeats the purpose of buying a surround sound system. Wireless speakers is a good feature and I like the option for EQ presets. I like the compatibility with Dolby and DTS also. Just difficulty in hearing people speak on tv is annoying.
