While this book is good and can stand on its own, it is the beginning of a very long story, so it's not a tightly packed three arc plot, and it's not meant to be. The author has at least a dozen more novels worth of content yet to be compiled in e-book form, but the 4 available on Amazon are a great place to start.Calling this "erotica" is underselling it a bit. There’s a lot of sex in this book. Like, a lot. So if that doesn’t interest you, you’re just not going to enjoy it. You’d be skimming through… quite a bit of text to get to the rest of the story.Unlike a lot of other harem novels, however, the sex actually factors heavily into the actual plot. Yes, it’s almost like the author came up with a reason for the characters to have a lot of sex, beyond them being horny for the usual reasons, and then wrote a story about it.If the sex doesn’t turn you off, or, if in fact you don’t mind some sex (or a lot) in your harem books, there’s a shockingly good space opera to be had here. It’s one of my favorite series of all time. Something I very much enjoy about the series is that there’s a lot of it. The story is over 3 million words long and counting. By the time you get through the first three books, the overarching plot is only barely starting to reveal itself. In a shorter story, you get to see the characters interact with one group or another, but then that’s usually it. In this longer format, you get to revisit those groups and see the sometimes empire shifting consequences of their interactions with the MCs. Plus, IMO, the story keeps getting stronger as the cast expands and the momentum of the story builds.Another thing I like about the story is that it does overpowered characters right. The main character, (and the women in the harem) get really powerful. (I really like in my harem novels is when the women are really awesome too) The story keeps escalating so that they have significant challenges, but importantly, there are a lot of great scenes where the MCs have awesome moments where they wipe the floor with villains and/or wow their allies. That balance is important IMO, and a lot of books don’t get it right. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The only two star reviewer put foot in mouth (spoiler alert) *by K***E on November 18, 2017* I enjoy erotic but always with plot. I mostly enjoy the plot rather than the sex usually. This is a great story. Yes it is heavy on the sex scenes but ther e is still plenty of plot. E.P. McLean remarked the bad sci fi knowledge in the book and poor plot points. E.P. Didn't read closely enough and has no depth of foresight for plot points. He did not shoot space ship weapons on a station. I can only guess they are referring to the antipersonnel guns around the docking bays and cargo bay and they were on a hollowed out asteroid not a station. As for the no medical exam for his attributes. Who said he didn't have an exam. Aliens are common place but not all are known obviously. Perhaps they couldn't detect anything to speak of or perhaps his results are classified and it is future intrigue for the story. Obviously E.P. McLean lacks proper higher brain function to comprehend such complex plot possibilities that even a newbie reader could conjecture. Oh, and a forty year old hero would not be surprising in a sci fi story set in the distant future like this one. Did it ever occur to you that by the time nearly 800 years have passed that medical tech would have humans living such longer lives that forty is merely considered early adulthood. Even excluding that, there are many stories of wisened older heroes rather than the inexperienced teen hero thrown into the deep end of an epic disaster. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A monster series had a strong opening. *by J***. on April 6, 2019* This is the first book of a huge series, the whole series is 2*E6 words and growing where the usual novel is between 50K and 100K words. There is sex mixed in with the plot, but the sex is pivotal to the overall arc of the saga. There are times when the sex gets a little overbearing and repetitive, but there are only so many ways to describe The Act no matter how it's done. Overall I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, because so far it's looking like it was written as a single story that just got cut up into bite-sized pieces for publication.
