I washed it immediately before using it for her, to remove any chemicals that remained in the fabric from manufacture. It had some very minor pilling from the initial washing but has not pilled since. It has also kept its pile depth very nicely (but then a small cat isn't very heavy lying on it!). I find it immediately retains body heat (from testing it with my hand) so is great for winter use, would be a bit much in the heat of the summer. **Q: I cant find the exact size could i buy larger size then cut to size ?** A: Yes ,it is very easy to cut using a stanley knife ,or sharp scissors **Q: Does the backing soften with use/washing please? It' way too stiff to line my dog's bed andbim wondering if it'll soften up..** A: A bit, but being fairly stiff means it doesn’t ruck up if they fidget. It very easy to cut to shape if needed.
