Works great no issues, make sure you have the correct hose set up.
Background: I am a GC Superintendent for medium to large scale commercial construction projects so all the welding crews we contract bring the big boy equipment. They dont always have time to do mockups or small stuff we need done for owners and architects so I picked up the Plasma DS-55 and the yeswelder MIg 250 pro to keep in my trailer to do odd and ends as needed in a pinch. I’m super hands on and came up in the trades, so using tools isn’t foreign to me. Its not exactly my first time trying this type stuff but by no means can I call myself a welder or metal fabricator. I’ve been lucky enough to have learned basics on the Millers by some really talented welders and fabricators. Busting these tools out on the project I knew I was gonna get some side eyes hurled my way, but it’s all good, I don’t plan to quit my day job. The DS-55 set up (and 1 minor issue): Wanted to do it on my own see how easy it was for an average person, Set up is easy for the most part. I’m Using it in the field on a commercial jobsite ran off a temp power spider box, so I can use either voltage. Compressor is my typical 5.2 gallon Makita Big Bor used for framing, tank keeps up with no issues. The fitting installed on the air intake filter is a push connection with a cheap tubing, but it comes with a 1/4”male quick connect (I think type M) which I couldn’t use because we use larger hose fittings similar to automotive, not sure why but that’s what our tool yard insists on putting on. I Ran to the depot and swapped the hose and compressor fittings to match the ones sent. With all the parts put on my hose and compressor, that’s when I realized, they used like a silicone or glue or around the outside of the push fitting into the air filter. I could feel some clear thick substance and the fitting was not easy to unscrew. I don’t know if this was an accident or returned part but in the Amazon add video you see them remove it and swap it out very easy, I had cut the thin layer of whatever off, back the plastic filter with a pipe wrench, use a decent size crescent and slowly break the fitting free. I was already looking up replacement filter because I thought it would snap. I did get it broke free and we were ready to roll. We run commercial electrical OSHA Twist lock plugs so this being a residential style plug I had to grab one of the adaptors I keep around, make sure you know your plug type and the plug type on the machine, or plan to cut the chord and put a new end on which I will be doing next week so I don’t need the adaptor any more. Plugged it In, fired it up, and started cutting everything that was or wasn’t tied down. Worked nicely and cut clean, especially for not knowing the settings very well. I got some extra consumables because not knowing what I’m doing I’m assured to burn some up. They send two of the .8 mm and one 1.2mm which will go quick. The yeswelder consumables you order separately are actually measured in inches so the .8mm is the .03” and the 1.2mm is the .045”. Make sure to get the ones for the correct torch. Honestly it’s a great machine and even my welders came over and started playing with it and all were super impressed for how small and great it worked. Unless you plan to get a Miller or other high end set up, get this one and you won’t be disappointed. Worth its weight 10x over and assuming we take care of it properly I see this being around for a while. If your on the fence just get it and you won’t be disappointed. If something changes I will update the post. You tube: when you search videos they have the old blue DS-55 or the DS-55pro. For the life of me I couldn’t find the standard DS-55 takes the new black and red configuration. The blue set up and filter style is not the same as the new black and red. After watching the DS-55 pro videos I found, it seems this machine is the DS-55 pro it’s just Yeswelder dropped the “PRO”… not sure if there’s any spec or technical differences but if your looking for you tube assist, just watch the 55 Pro, it seems to be the same. Cut through: 1/8” mild steel 16 gauge cold rolled 1/4” hot rolled 1/2” mild steel 1/8” aluminum 1/4” stainless Leg to Trailer railing

Awesome little plasma cutter
Awesome little plasma cutter when hooked to 220v. The 110 option works but the cutting power is very limited, but when hooked to 220 there are zero issues. Cuts sch 80 carbon steel pipe like butter, Stainless steel plate no issues, very pleased with my purchase, easy to setup, easy to use, good value for your money. Perfect machine for my garage shop.

Working Good Again
Machine worked good at first. 10.6.23 Update: Machine will no longer arc. It will cut for about 3/4 of an inch and then quits arcing - Downgrading to 1 star because of this. 10.09.23 Update: Machine is working fine again. I am not 100% sure what the issue was but it may have been a humidity problem / my compressed air not getting dry enough.
