Erickson Films YouTube: Review
Comica XLR Lavalier Microphone Lavalier microphones are perfect for recording audio of a talent without showing a microphone on screen or setting up boom poles. One of the reasons I personally, however, have generally chosen to avoid them is because they generally use a 3.5mm connection meaning you need to connect them to a phone, or mobile recorder. I own a high-quality XLR audio interface called the Audient ID14 and always prefer to run microphones through it, because of its incredibly low noise, high-quality preamps; something that I couldn’t do with most lavalier microphones without purchasing a 3.5mm to XLR converter. Comica approached me and offered to send two of their XLR, phantom power, CVM-V02O2 lav microphones for review. This microphone eliminates the need to for carrying a portable battery powered recorder with a 3.5mm jack and instead allows you to plug straight into any audio interface just like a standard condenser microphone. Finally, I had a means of using a lavalier microphone that could plug directly into my audio interface, and record straight into Adobe Audition; allowing simple syncing into my videos given my one room indoor setup. This was really a lifesaver for me, because in the past whenever I wanted to use a lavalier microphone, I was restricted to plugging into my phone and having to email the file to myself, a hassle that led me to rarely use lav mics. My entire sponsored video for AnyTrans was recorded with the mic, which I will play a sample of here, raised to the levels of this video: As you can probably hear for yourself, the sound quality is really quite excellent for a $37 microphone, providing a clear, fairly warm sound. The microphone sounds a little thinner than I would like, but my point of reference is a Blue Spark in a sound-treated closet. For the best sound, I would recommend putting on headphones to monitor and try placing the mic in different parts of your shirt until you find an area that sounds best to you. Given that the microphone is omnidirectional you will need to record in a very quiet area if you don’t want background noises in your video. This is something I need to emphasize because a lot of people have the idea that they can simply through a lav on a talent and not expect to record everything in the environment. This isn’t much of a problem if you’re going for a more natural sound in your production, but always keep in mind that the recording space must always be considered when using a sensitive condenser microphone like this one. Also, expect a certain amount of noise when walking around with this, or any other lavalier microphone unless you purchase a special type of sticky material created to prevent said noise. I will link some of this tape in the description. Really, at this price point, you would be hard-pressed to find a better sounding lav mic that is also XLR. Another really excellent feature of this microphone is its ability to plug directly into a camera with XLR ports like a Canon C100, an ideal set up for documentary shooting. Something to consider for this though is the microphones chord is only about 6 feet long, so you would likely need a wide angles lens to pull off interview shooting. Alternatively, this could also be plugged into a high-quality XLR recorder like the Zoom H5, for optimum performance and ease of use; so long as you are willing to sync audio in post. Also, this microphone provides clear enough sound quality to serve as an extra mic for a podcast guest or something of the sort, and could easily be concealed in clothing. While I likely won’t be changing my format of voice over playing over footage, it’s good to know that I now have a high-quality option for recording talking head videos that work well for my set up of recording inside. Big thanks to Comica for sending me these microphones for review, but I want to make clear that I was in no way paid to make this video, and all opinions expressed here are my own. I would wholeheartedly recommend this microphone to anyone looking for a clear sounding XLR, lav under $50. I know it’s been a long time since consistent uploads, but I think I am finally back guys. I wish everyone a happy new year and am thrilled to think where this channel goes in 2018. Until next time, Christian from Erickson Films, signing out!

If your only question is, "Are these any good?", the answer is a resounding YES!!!!
I have a Universal Audio apollo x audio interface and was looking for a GOOD Lavalier MIC to use for a new YouTube channel I'm about to launch. I first tried the BOYA BY-M1 PRO, and I could NOT get it to work correctly, even with the 1/4" adapter it came with. But these Comica XLR Microphones, CVM-V02O?!!! WOW! AMAZING! Plugged one right into the first XLR connector on the back of my apollo and BAM... PERFECTION! Amazing, perfect sound quality and level. No static, no problems and the super long 14.76 ft cord? PERFECT length to go from my interface to the desk on the set. AND you're getting TWO for the price of one! High quality construction and feel (not cheap plastic, but full metal XLR connector). I really could not be happier!!!

High build quality, good sound, great price
As a professional podcast and audio content producer, these microphones have quickly become an essential part of my daily gear. Crafted from high-quality materials, their build is both solid and reliable, with a sturdy XLR connector that ensures a secure fit. Just a heads-up, they require phantom power to operate, so make sure your recording device can provide 48V phantom power or have an external power source ready. I pair these mics with my Zoom Podtrack, creating a versatile and portable recording setup that lets me capture great audio anywhere. Speaking of audio quality, while they might not be top-of-the-line, they offer impressive performance for their price. The sound is clear and more than satisfactory for most recording needs. The included cables are sufficiently long for most situations, but if you find yourself needing more range, going wireless might be a better option. Overall, these microphones are a fantastic value and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. I'm even considering adding more to my collection!

Just what I needed!
I ordered the two pack of these microphones so I can use them doing on-camera sit-down interviews without the hassles that come with using wireless devices (batteries and the time it takes to get it all going). I purchased the version with the longer cords so I could get enough distance away from the camera when recording the interviews. Everything is small enough to fit in a very small case. The biggest part is the male XLR jack. Note: these microphones are, in fact, Phantom-powered, as indicated in the description. So make sure your device provides that power or they will not work. The dynamic range only goes as high as 12khz so don't expect a lot of treble in your recordings! The sound is very good and despite having a multi-directional pickup pattern, the ambient noise from off camera isn't very loud in the recordings. The microphones come with fur wind filters which look a little funny on camera but they work. I'm looking forward to using these microphones for many years, as they are compact enough to keep in my "go" pack, were relatively inexpensive, and work great!

These are solid!
These mics are quite good. I am surprised for the price! They are clean, and hot don’t require a lot of power to drive them. They come with wind screens already attached. They have a clip on the back can easily clip to your shirt. They have very thin cabling, think of standard quality headphone cabling, which does have a velcro strip to keep them tidy. These mics are very clean! They are very small. The freq response is quite nice for speech. If you can mount them to glasses or something up by your face, they will be a nice adition to a headset with a bad mic. Only down side is they do pickup a lot around you, music at low volume others talking etc. Grab these, you won’t be disapointed.

Same quality, a third of the price
My shop has purchased a large, well-known legacy brand of XLR mic for decades, with each topping out at over $100. These were a fraction of that price AND you receive two of them. Based on my testing, I cannot tell a difference in quality. I actually enjoy this one a bit more due to its compact size and little fuzzy windscreen option it comes with for those windy shoots where everything gets distorted in the breeze. If you would have told me I would be ditching the legacy brand for Movo even a year ago, I would’ve laughed in your face. But these guys have shown they are a force to be reckoned with in the professional audio world.

Sound great, until they don't.
These mics sound great when they're working, but they seem to die pretty quickly, as I've gone through 3 of them (the two originals and one of the replacements Comica sent out), all of which were used only at a desk. They just stop recording sound after a while. So, ultimately, disappointing.

A must have mic (right price right quality)
Comica CVM-V02O2 Lavalier Microphone: http://amzn.to/2EWaGZg Over the years I have acquired a small arsenal of microphones from the very high to low price models. When I received, the Comica CVM-V02O2 Phantom Power Omni-directional XLR Lavalier Lapel Microphone I know that I have finally found the right mic for the right price at only $30. I own 2 of these microphones one to use regularly and one as a backup. It has been more than a two week, and they seem indestructible! They have been tossed many times, stomped on, rained on, and also abused by amateurs lol ... you name it .. even one was chewed on by my pet. Many times, when I can't decide amongst my expensive mics, and affordable microphones I reach into my bag for this Lavalier mic. Even If you have flip style cam, grab yourself one of these Comica XLR microphones with a mini plugin, and you have just added pro-style sound to your production. After auditioning microphone from a very high price to a low cost, I am using this microphone to make my recording sound and look professional; and in time I will be choosing this Lavalier microphone. You can not beat the sound quality and the built quality into this Lavalier microphones.

Clip economica
Sono abbastanza buone come qualità audio, in rapporto la prezzo ovviamente, le uso per interviste a due, se i soggetti sono a distanza adeguata (2/3mt) si isolano l'un l'altro senza effetto pettine!

Sólo funciona con phanton
Sólo es compatible so tienes alimentación phanton power. De otra manera el micrófono es inservible. Devolución iniciada, cambio a otro modelo.

Great for interviews!
I've been using this connected to my Zoom H4N Pro and they record great audio for my podcast. Just make sure to use the pop filters because they are very sensitive. They will pick up background noise.

makes life easier
I use these with little fill lights and it works perfect for that. i have used them with a GoPro before but have other better mounts for that. but a quick fill light placement option has made these clamps super handy. I use them with the ballmount apparatus and can angle the small little LED fill lights to sit nicely on the ground at a perfect angle. Time saver and handy. Nothing to complain about.
