John Wayne and Robert Mitchum star in this classic western based on Harry Brown's novel. After turning down a job helping evil land baron Bart Jason (Edward Asner) drive a family off a patch of sought-after land, ex-gunslinger Cole Thornton (Wayne) is dismayed to learn that his friend J.P. Harrah (Mitchum), the El Dorado town sheriff, has descended into alcoholism after the stress of trying to combat the ruthless baron and his cronies became too much. Accompanied by his new partner Mississippi (James Caan), Thornton rides back into town in a bid to save Harrah and finally put an end to Jason's reign of terror. Great movie but one issue
Great movie. The Blu ray transfer is excellent very good picture but as other reviewers are saying the lips are slightly out of sync with what the actors are saying

I have seen this film numerous times on the Television. I can now enjoy this film at my leisure. Easy going story with my child hood favourite actor John Wayne.

Could not expect less
Perhaps not the most out of the ordinary Western storyline but the outstanding performance of John Wayne and Robert Mitchum and the rest of the cast is well worthy. Particularly actor Arthur Hunnicutt makes his character a "classic".

The sound was not in sync with the action. Also, I paid for the blu Ray movie Red River more than a month ago and it still hasn’t arrived
