This is a handy little 8x12" square for home or most any other projects. For 95% or more of anyone buying this, it will be useful and accurate enough for a lifetime unless it is lost, stolen or abused. For those like myself, that will only use this tool from time to time (at best), this is a tool one 'never needs' until they do. Another viewer was crying about the label being impossible to remove. I almost didn't buy this due to his whining. I'm glad I did anyway. My label peeled off so easily-leaving not so much of a smudge of residue-a child could have removed it without any issue. It seems to me if that crying customer spent half of the time that he took for detailing his several attempts at removing that label, then writing his detailed review and criticism, he could have contacted the seller about making it right. THEN he'd have reason to bellyache about it if they did nothing to make it right with a refund or an exchange. Even the best manufacturers send out a dud once in awhile. We've all made mistakes. How about contacting the seller first, THEN let us know how that worked out. THAT would be a legit review. Quit taking it as such a personal affront and give them a chance to make things right before venting like a petulant Tween in her angst-filled diary. IF they won't do anything to make it right, THEN let 'er rip and spare no detail. Otherwise, you're just lashing out at an exception.

The sticker is impossible to remove and it’s really hard to read

I purchased the Johnson 430 Steel Carpenter Square solely because of the price. $3 for a pair of socks is a good deal let alone a carpenter’s square. I’ve owned this tool for a few months now, but I haven’t found a use for it just yet. I own 2 framing squares, one steel and one aluminum, and at work I typically use my speed square unless I’m doing layouts or cutting rafters/stringers. I work as a framer or remodel/finish carpenter depending on which can keep me busiest. But as far as the Johnson square goes it feels and looks well made and it is in fact square. For someone that has a use for a carpenters square this is probably the best combination of price and quality that your going to find. I definitely recommend this product at its current price point.

Great value for for the price. Very sturdy. Only gave 4 stars because, as other reviews have shown, the picture doesn't accurately show the small circular notch at the 90 degree junction, but I was aware of it prior to the purchase. No problem removing the sticker, so I guess they listened to the complaints and changed the adhesive.

Old style steel squares are less commonly stocked in hardware or big box stores. I like the durability, and the " heft". Wont blow off a roof either. Etched graduations dont wear off, and more precise measurement gradations than a Speed Square.
