Magnets have a good hold
I ordered both sizes of these magnets. The large magnet has a very strong hold, although it is very difficult to hold in place push down and twist the activation lever. This magnet would be much better if it was easier to activate. The small magnet, although not is powerful works very well for holding metal parts on custom work that I fabricate, The lever is easy to twist and activate the magnet while holding the metal parts in place. I found the larger magnet would twist while trying to turn the handle making This is it difficult to keep everything lined up. I would like to try another one of these large magnets, if they could make the lever easier to operate. ~K~ @ KCD fabrication

At first thought no good, and was going to return, BUT…
So this out the box was very weak, it did stick and when turned it did release. But I could pull it off as it was not strong. I figured I got a defective one, put it back in the box, to return. But then I thought about all the great reviews, and pulled it back out. I will say I thought I was going to break it as I got it to turn one more past where it seems it’s operating area was. Once in this area, it was perfect. Monster hold, and turn off switch worked. So if you think it doesn’t work, play with it a little, might just not be in right operating area.

Nice magnet but not a 220 pound magnet
Great price point and it has a nice finish and it's compact. It's important to note that the handle must be rotated 180 degrees. I say this because the rotation isn't very smooth and when I initially engaged it, I only rotated it 90 degrees which engaged it but only about 25%. When you get to 90 degrees, it seems to stop and that’s where most people think it's fully engaged. This is all attributed to the lack of smoothness in the rotation, although I think this may be just a characteristic of the internal magnetic force and for that reason I can live with the rotation issues. The only real reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that this simply is not a 220 pound magnet. I attached it to the I-beam that supports the joists in my house and attempted to hang from it and it released immediately and I’m 190 pounds. I’d say it barely hold 100 pounds. This suits my purpose as a stand for my dial indicator so I’m happy but if you’re looking for a 220 pound magnet, this isn’t the one…

Extremely hard to turn on, felt like I was going to break it
There are no decent instructions included first off. Turn a quarter it starts being magnetic. It became nearly impossible to turn and had very little pull (talking couldn't hold a steel wire up). Tried forcing it and it turned roughly to 180 from start and was significantly more powerful but still couldn't hold anything (barely held itself on a steel door, couldn't even close the door). I contemplated grabbing tools to try and force it further but it felt like the handle was not going to move past the 180 from start position. Suspect there's a possibility it was either broken or jammed but it wasn't working for me. The handle was tilted out at an angle as well which is not how it appears in the product images. There were at least two positions I could get this to - 90 and 180 degrees. Attempting to get to 270 I felt no give and it felt like I would break the handle. As someone noted that you needed to fish around for where it's strongest I attempted 10ish degrees at a time and noted no difference. I wonder if at 270 degrees the thing would actually work as advertised, but as noted I could not get it to turn and the instructions just say to turn it on... not how far of a rotation it can handle, and it seemed to stop hard at 270.

Great value
Don’t waste your money on the expensive magnets these are great for the price

It works but hard to engage
As another reviewer here said, the handle is "janky" and I agree. I give this item 3 stars. It is not movement free when engaged, it does hold very tight but a bump with a board could easily move the magnet. Also, it seems to have much less strength on a painted surface vs raw steel. On my table saw it holds strong on the saw surface, but on the fence rail I can move it around easily. My biggest gripe is with the handle. It is hard to engage and while trying to engage, you end up moving it around some trying to turn the handle. As compared to the magswitch, those are effortless to engage (but they are twice the price)

Tiny but mighty
One of my favorite tools super powerful magnet and it’s pretty easy to clean due to the on and off function spendier than I thought it would be but I’ve definitely gotten my moneys worth out of it

Ignore the low reviews, here's why...
Structural Ironworker here. Before you buy this, go read the 1-star reviews. Seriously. They’re a masterclass in what happens when people don’t read instructions or understand basic magnetic properties. Now for the truth: This is an industrial magnet — not a fridge toy. If you want the full rated 100 kg / 220 lb holding force, you need to use it exactly as intended: • Place it on flat, clean steel or iron at least ¼" (0.25") thick. • Then — and this is where most of the “it doesn’t work” geniuses fail — press the handle straight down and rotate it a full 180° to engage the magnet. Do that, and this thing absolutely slaps. It’s strong, reliable, and performs exactly as advertised. If you’re using it correctly, it’s an awesome magnet. If you’re not… well, enjoy leaving a 1-star review blaming physics.
