I know in the Caribbean they r known as pigeon peas or Gunga peas, never known any other term for them if what am thinking is correct Black peas r small and darker as these r a bigger colour and also come in a green colour.

Very handy

Very handy to have in your cupboard. Of course the tinned version is easier, but this dried version is just as good. Make sure to soak overnight. After soaking overnight avoid using a pressure cooker, it destroys the peas. Use standard cooking pot with salted water, and bring to boil, then simmer until tender. Takes about 40/45 minutes.
