Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen USB-C Audio Interface

Ive been using a focusrite for years and this one is great. Great size, nice finish and very simple to use. I got lots of good stuff with it when I registered-free piano vsts, sound effects etc and a great discount on ableton live standard. It comes with lite versions of ableton/cubase etc so if you’re just beginning you can jump right in and find what works for you. I love it

My mind is blown. The sound quality is the best I've had from all my audio interfaces to date. The amount of free software you get with this also makes this a real no-brainer - my best purchase of the year so far!

I read so many reviews before finally opting for the focusrite 4-4. It was very easy to set up and quality of sound is excellent. Connectivity is excellent as is volume control, took me a while to adjust the latency settings in my mac to suit but got their in the end. delighted with my purchase and would highly recommend. Integrates well with Ableton and glad I opted for the additional inputs/outputs.

I have used a number of Focusrite devices and have always gotten along fine with them. This little DI is an excellent device which sets up on Windows with no issues. Plug and play. Obviously you'll need to set up your DAW, but its painless and runs well using Cubase 13 Artist. The quality of the mic amps in particular are very good and to be honest, there's nothing that touches it in this price bracket. You loose out on the extra headphone out when compaired to earlier samples, but one is enough. The only thing I don't entirely like is the fact that the front two inputs are controlled by a single set of commands, which need to be assigned to what ever input your using and then adjusted. Personally I would like each input to have it's own set of controls, but that's a small issue and doesn't make for a four star product...... hence five stars.

Looks amazing. Sounds amazing. Build quality is top-notch... But with one annoying little niggle: It doesn't have a power switch, so to turn it off you have to simply unplug the usb cable. Am I expecting too much to have a simple on/off switch? Anyway, that minor niggle aside, it's still a 5 star unit and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I purchased this to setup a home recording studio. The unit itself was very easy to setup and build quality is very good. It interfaces to my DAW perfectly and does produce fairly high quality audio. There are some annoying downsides which is why I cannot award 5 stars. One I consider pretty major considering this seems to be aimed at the hobbyist or as a studio practise tool. Firstly, and very annoyingly, there is no power on/off button. It can be powered from a power supply or from your computer USB port. This means the unit is always on and you cannot turn it off without disconnecting both cables. If you remove the power supply, it will still stay on via your USB connection. I cannot see cables lasting too long having to keep disconnecting and reconnecting, plus it's a complete pain. Secondly, and I think the biggest fault in this unit, the 2 x 6.35mm inputs at the back cannot have the gain changed. That would not be so bad if they had been set at a usable gain in the first place, but they are set at pro line level. This will be an issue for many as the majority of devices that the hobbyist or home user will plug in there will run at consumer line level. This means that the volume level is extremely low. Almost unusable. The only solutions to this is that you either up the volume in software or you have to purchase a line level shifter which is not cheap. This is a bad design decision by Focusrite. Earlier generations of this unit had a high/low gain setting but it has been removed in the last couple of versions. I am fortunate that I plug a mixer in there where I can adjust the gain. I almost returned the unit just because of this issue as if I was using those inputs directly, they would be of no use at all. Both my arranger keyboard and digital piano hardly register on the volume meter when plugged in directly. My mixer solves this issue but without that, I would not have been able to use this device for the purposes intended. Doing research on this, it seems to be a very common complaint from other owners.

After a long debate I simply upgraded to Focusrite 4i4 4th gen. God ! I went through 4 different interfaces before this 4i4: Trumix 12, Presonus 24c, Roland Rubix 24 and Focusrite 2i2. The difference between 4i4 4th and these 4 is night an day ! Simply amazing on my KRKs 7 - tested 4i4 on Yamahas HS8s and the sound will blow your mind. For a better sound quality I had to replace all my cabling too: went for Neutrik cabling. Amazon has a good variety of XLR/TRS cables. I have not tested any software that comes with the unit as I will not need it but I am so so impressed with this tiny unit. And it looks the business. I know others complained about not having a power button but I got a usb 2.0 switch so all ok here. Overall : Simply amazing ! Well done Focusrite and to all engineers involved in upgrading to 4th gen. Also Thanks Amazon for same day delivery!

Came all the way from Germany to Asia, and delivery is fast as well! Plug and play type of audio interface that is very well worth it's cost for starters, and also can be connected to a Desktop or Laptop to interface with things you know you need to. A definite good buy.

I was having issues with my gen 2-2i4 after upgrading my pc hardware and OS to windows 11. It would randomly and frequently stop working during studio workflow and gaming. After a week of troubleshooting, I concluded it was that the USB was unable to provide adequate power to the 2i4 and it would stop working. Whether this was a windows issue, or a usb driver issue, I wasn't sure. But I was certain it was a power delivery issue via the usb. I am a fan of the focusrite scarlett line of AD interfaces for the values they provide for the home studio musician and the podcaster/streamer. I did some research to find that the 4i4 4th gen comes with an external power supply for the unit, so I decided to buy it to see if it corrected the issue. The long and short of it... it did. I've been using the 4i4 for a week and haven't had a single issue. I use this unit for tracking my audio ideas at home to present at my pro studio. For what this unit offers, it's an extremely good value for your dollar. The converters sound excellent. Apparently theyre the same converters used in the focusrite rednet line, which is actually crazy. The addition of the "air", "drive" and "auto" feature is excellent. The "safe" feature is kind of useless unless you plan on recording during a bombing of your town or city. I'm hoping to get another 7 years out of this AD converter like I did with the 2nd gen 2i4. Props to focusrite for providing such an excellent product at such a reasonable price.
