Read speed is fine, more than enough to stream content from. Takes a sec to spool up, but other than that it's been great. Over 17000hrs on one and just bought another. Drives are the exact same, just different firmware versions. ## Features - Reliable, low-power data retrieval based on SMR technology - for Archive use - Enjoy peace of mind with a drive engineered for 24x7 workloads of 180TB/year - Keep your costs down with up to 1.33TB-per-disk hard drive technology - Store your data faster with SATA 6Gb/s interface that optimizes burst performance - Have confidence with a drive that provides reliable, low-power data retrieval based on Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) technology ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B077XZWJNZ | | Additional Features | Portable | | Best Sellers Rank | #2,781 in Internal Hard Drives #39,286 in Computer Internal Components | | Brand | Seagate | | Built-In Media | Seagate Archive HDD 8TB SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive with Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) Technology (ST8000AS0022) | | Cache Memory Installed Size | 128 | | Compatible Devices | Desktop | | Connectivity Technology | SATA | | Customer Package Type | Standard | | Customer Reviews | 3.6 out of 5 stars 12 Reviews | | Data Transfer Rate | 6000 megabytes_per_second | | Digital Storage Capacity | 8 TB | | Enclosure Material | Aluminum, Glass, or Ceramic | | Form Factor | 3.5-inch | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00763649123317 | | Hard Disk Description | Mechanical Hard Disk | | Hard Disk Form Factor | 3.5 inches | | Hard Disk Interface | Serial ATA | | Hard Disk Rotational Speed | 5900 rpm | | Hard-Drive Size | 8 TB | | Hardware Connectivity | SATA 6.0 Gb/s | | Installation Type | Internal Hard Drive | | Item Type Name | Seagate Archive HDD v2 8TB SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive with SMR Technology ST8000AS0022 | | Item Weight | 1.4 pounds | | Manufacturer | Seagate Bare Drives | | Media Speed | 6000 MB/s | | Mfr Part Number | ST8000AS0022 | | Model Name | Archive | | Model Number | ST8000AS0022 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Read Speed | 6000 megabytes_per_second | | Special Feature | Portable | | Specific Uses For Product | business, personal | | UPC | 763649123317 643665788366 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | 1 Year Limited | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Seagate - **Compatible Devices:** Desktop - **Connectivity Technology:** SATA - **Digital Storage Capacity:** 8 TB - **Hard Disk Description:** Mechanical Hard Disk - **Hard Disk Form Factor:** 3.5 inches - **Hard Disk Interface:** Serial ATA - **Hard Disk Size:** 8 TB - **Installation Type:** Internal Hard Drive - **Special Feature:** Portable ## Images ![Seagate Archive HDD v2 8TB SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive with SMR Technology (ST8000AS0022) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81yEggM2yaL.jpg) ![Seagate Archive HDD v2 8TB SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive with SMR Technology (ST8000AS0022) - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/512luOL9DCL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seagate Archive HDD v2 8TB SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache Internal Bare Drive with SMR Technology 3.5" - ST8000AS0022 *by V***Y on April 5, 2018* Lotsa storage but not very fast.
