Does the newest XL robot vacuum have a actual hepa filter in the vacuum or only in the base? I’m the marketing it says its in the base.

While it would be a nice price hiking PLUS feature, it doesn't have a HEPA filter in the Robot Vacuum. Thankfully there's only one expendable HEPA filter in the base and a motor associated filter. Consider the design size enlargement necessary to accommodate an integral vacuum filter. Otherwise filters can be identified in the User Manual; which should be read first, thoroughly. Do not use soap to clean filters and allow 24hrs to dry.

Does this product also mop?

No, this model does not have the mop feature

Does the AI utilize some type of object recognition library? if so, does it recognize loose cords or animal refuse?

It can tell there is something in front of it but doesn't "know" what it is. Mine found a pile of dog doo and spread it around. I has choked on cords upon occasion too though most often it just goes over them. I always check the floor before I turn it on.

Does the mop empty itself like the vacuum does??

The self-empty base is incompatible with map mode. It does not empty itself in mop mode. It uses a different attachment for mop mode that holds liquid cleaner on the top half, and vacuum dirt on the bottom half. However, the self-empty trash bin does not work with the mop attachment. The mop attachment sprays the liquid cleaner on the floor and mops it up. It also vacuums and mops at the same time, but it will not empty into the base. The self-empty feature only works with the vacuum only attachment.
