SporGain [Updated Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener 15°-45° Adjustable Frame

This sharpening guide made it much easier to maintain a consistent angle while sharpening my mower blades. It's well built, adjusts easily, and works smoothly with an angle grinder. The ball-bearing handle makes it easy to control, and my blades came out sharp and even. Great tool for anyone who maintains their own lawn equipment.

This works great to get a nice sharp edge on my mower blades. First, I have two sets of blades (6 total blades). I keep them at different angles for the different style of blade (high lift vs gator/mulch). This jig allows an incredibly easy adjustment of angle so for this it’s awesome. Adjustments are super easy all around. I feel safe during use, no worries that the blade is going to come loose or misalignments that I’ll ruin a blade. My one complaint is that the joint in the arm for the grinder, is a teeny bit loose allowing for a little play. I manually remedy this by applying slight pressure in one direction, to maintain consistency in each pass with the grinder. This is minor but it IS the reason I can’t give this five stars. Overall, I would absolutely purchase this again, given the price of other “name brand” jigs. This still allows me to get a fresh, consistent edge on my blades.

Assembly was quick and easy. Mounting hardware, including jig hardware, of high quality. Took the guesswork and stability issue out of sharpening thus complete sharpening was a mere ten-seconds per side. Worked well with my mulching blades too. Easily adjustable, and seems to be stable enough to offer a long useful life. For my use 30-degree sharpening was perfect and really made a difference in my first use of the sharpened blades. Perfect addition to the DIY garage.

I was pleasantly surprised how well this jig works. Have to be honest, I had my doubts. I had to update my grinder since the handle came out of the frame a slight angle but the new grinder works perfect on this. I sharpened 6 blades which did not take very long and they now have the perfect angle they should, very sharp too. They look like they were professionally sharpened. I was amazed how bad my angle was using a bench grinder all these years, guess that's why they dulled so quickly! Just need to pay attention to your forward movements so you don't veer off to either side, keeping your angle true. Very please with this product and would recommend.

Well pleased with purchase. I have used it to sharpen six mower blades and was not disappointed. Some reviewers noted the angle adjustment is off. If you want a thirty degree grind angle you may need to set the angle different from thirty degrees due to relief twist in the blade. My blades have a fifteen degree twist so I have to set the angle to forty five degrees to get a thirty degree grind. The sharpener could be a little less loose; however, for the price it is acceptable and does a great job.

Love this blade holder. Makes sharpening mower blades so much easier and faster. Allows me to sharpen the blades with a uniform and sharp edge. I would recommend this product to others. Well built and easy to use.

I purchased this to sharpen the blades on my Honda HRX217HYA lawn mower with the twin blade mulching system. I had always just used a file to sharpen the blades and I am sure that it was not very preceise at all. I have two sets of blades that I alternate. I saw this system and after watching some YouTube videos, I decided to give it a try. I mounted the lower angle piece to a 2x4 and clamped the 2x 4 into my Workmate bench and set the first blade into the unit. I did need to adjust the 4 bolts that clamp the blade onto the sharpener since they were too low for the bigger blade to fit in. After adjusting the 4 bolts so the blade was secure I clamped it in and set the angle adjustment to 35 degrees. I only had to do about 5 passes with my angle grinder and a 60 grit flapper disc before the blade had a nice sharp edge. I put the blade on my balancer and just needed to make one more pass on the heavy side to get it in balance. After I finished the first blade I readjusted the 4 holding bolts for the smaller blade and sharpened it. Like the bigger blade, I needed to adjust the balance. The blades had kind of a slight ragged edge so I just ran a file once over the edge to remove the burrs. Like others have stated, this "Updated" model does not seem to have a ball bearing in the pivoting section where the two beams connect, even though the picture and description shows it has one. This is a disappointment, but I guess "Upated" does not always mean better, just different. This erroneous description is the reason I took off a star. I liked that it came with the 4 lag bolts to secure it to the 2x4. I have a Hercules 4 1/2" angle grinder and one of the provided adapter screws fit the grinder perfectly. For the money it works good, and since I only have one mower and two sets of blades it fills my needs.

Great device but came with with a loose swivel arm and faulty bearing which I believe was the cause. I will be seeing if I'm able replace the bearing myself with a better quality one at my local bearing store. Seems the bearing was crushed because they use a small split washer that sits up against the guts. Would be better using a normal washer that fits against the whole outside of the bearing so it doesn't get crushed.

I always sharpened mower blades myself as they can be reused for years... but the angle was never right: 30°. That pissed me off so many times. I had no idea how to train my hand to do a real 30° full-length blade angle... So I bought this "guide". IT'S AWESOME... It's not perfect; there is a bit of play in the angle grinder guide, but it's minimal... Blade still gets out really great.

This is a lot better than my other one. It is lighter and a better design. And the price is fantastic. Would highly recommend this to family and friends for sure.
