Review: Wasn't sure if it was worth it before I bought it - I do a lot of long distance hauls, and by the end of the trip the straps are usually a mess because they've been flapping in the wind. This also means during the trip in doing a lot of adjusting, because things get loose. I decided to pull the trigger on the strap jacket for a 5 day international trip from Ohio to Mexico, even though I had reservations because it seems like a basic product. Happy to say that it is worth every penny. Attached are some pics to give an idea of how they work, and what I did with them. Here's what is really good about them: 1) protects the rachet and extra strap from the elements. No mud, rain etc. 2) Securely holds all the extra strap, so it doesn't get loose. - my biggest problem with straps. 3) the Jackets are very well made. Thick material, excellent stitching, clearly a lot of thought went into the design. 4) speaking of design, it helps to look at the instructions, even though it seems straight forward. I put one jacket on wrong before I figured it out. Performance during the trip: We had crazy high winds blasting us, especially in Oklahoma and Texas. Coupled with going 80mph, I was fully expecting to lose one of the strap jackets, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they didn't come even the slightest bit undone. It was the first trip I've ever done where I didn't have to pull over on the highway at some point to fix it. So, if you use straps fairly frequently, or are planning a long road trip, I'd definitely recommend these. Cons: the jacket is made in the USA, but the straps themselves weren't. Minor quibble though, because they performed very well, and were a better build quality than the $4 Wal Mart ones. Highly recommend.
