Sour Cream Powder, 1lb.

This is so convenient to have in the house when you are a baker. It is much easier than using fresh sour cream. You just use the powder and water and your cake recipe is done.

This is fine for baking but it lacks in matching the taste of sour cream for dips or topping. Nice to have as a backup for baking.

I bought this along with butter powder and used them both in my dehydrated meals for backpacking, learned that I did't need such a big bag of this Sour Cream and luckily my wife found a use for it in her cooking to burn through it. It's powdered sour cream if you have a use for it and need a lot then this is good stuff.

ALTHOUGH I RECEIVED MY SHIPMENT IN A TIMELY MANNER, I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PRODUCT. IT TASTES LIKE INSTANT NON-FAT DRY MILK AND NOTHING LIKE SOUR CREAM. IT MAY BE OK TO USE IN COOKING, BUT NOT ON BAKED POTATOES. ALSO, IT DOES NOT COME WITH DIRECTIONS. IF I COULD, I WOULD GIVE IT MINUS 5 STARS, THAT'S HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM. THE COMPANY MAY BE GOOD AND THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS MAY BE GOOD, BUT NOT THE SOUR CREAM POWDER.

Even after rehydrating, it tastes like chalk. (Yes, I've tasted chalk, so I can compare.) The texture is even like rehydrated chalk. I can live with the texture (though there is no way I'd put this on, say, a baked potato), but the flavor lacks any sort of tangy notes that are found in sour cream. Very bland. It does give a creamy look if you add it to dishes, but it doesn't add any sour cream flavor. I give it two stars because I suspect it might be useful in baking. I do wish it tasted better, though, because I love the concept. I'm always throwing out half-used containers of sour cream, and something like this fills a useful niche.

A pleasant surprise. I use powdered and condensed milk and recently ordered powdered egg and powdered butter for use in my camper in case I don't get a chance to shop before Saturday morning on a last-minute weekend trip. The egg was as expected, butter a disappointment, but I threw this on just for yucks and it's actually pretty damn good. Strongly recommend for anyone buying food stores or even as a back-up for the regular kitchen. It's still powdered/reconstituted but far better than I ever expected for taste and consistency.

I have ordered this many times over. I find it is easier to keep this in a container on the shelf than it is to keep fresh in the fridge. Whenever what I am cooking calls for some sour cream I just add the powder instead and it tastes exactly the same. I am very pleased with how it comes out every single time.

I was a little leery of this but I just got tired of not having regular sour cream on hand when I needed it for a recipe. So I took a leap and am glad I did. I used it this week in a cooking recipe and it worked beautifully. I haven't tried it "on its own" yet -- like raw in a dip. But I am confident in saying that for a recipe in which it's used for cooking, this does this job well.
