I decided that whilst an old wine bottle has served me well for a number of years I should really get myself a wooden rolling pin again. This is a very nice rolling pin and just the right length for my preference. I might have liked a bit larger diameter like we used to have back in the old days, but this is good enough and not like those thin 'brush handle' ones. I had no problem whatsoever getting the label off, lift from a corner and it just peeled away. Gave the pin a quick wash and rub down with a cloth, left it to dry then brushed it all over with cooking oil to give it a bit of colour and a seal. It's wood so it will pick oils up from the dough as you use it, but why not give it a good start?

I got this rolling pin really as a one off purchase as I said I would do my grandson a birthday cake. This was one of the cheaper ones which did a great job

Got this today, and looking forward to making scones with it later - it will be a lot better than the wine bottle I've been using until now! It feels like a well made product. The label peeled off easily, and the wood is smooth without splinters or imperfections. It is reassuringly solid and has a decent weight for its size. You will want something bigger and heavier if you do a lot of baking or regularly make high numbers of items. I'm looking at making a dozen biscuits or scones at a time, and this is the perfect size.
