Yes. I use a beaker and place it in water in the bin. I don't use the heat function.

What are the dimensions of the cleaning basket including depth?

Basket is 8 wide by 10 long by 3.5 inches deep and it does fit the tank pretty well. Note: I have used the cleaner several times with very good results.

Call you use it to clean paint brushes?

I think yes. I saw a video where a guy cleaned his car engine parts using a water tight jar (not sure if plastic or glass). He filled up the jar with gasoline, put in his dirty car part, closed it tight, and dipped it completely into the ultrasonic cleaner filled with water. The cavitation went thru the container into the gasoline cleaner and cleaned his part shiny like new! I guess you could do the same with a paint brush. If latex (acrylic) paint, use soap and water inside the jar. If enamel paint, soak first in paint remover, then do an acetone dip using ultrasonic. Do not put paint remover into the ultrasonic. I would also check online before using these flammable materials for safety. But the jar concept saves money and prevents dirt on the cleaner.
