Yes SD card is Compatible with cx5 2024 all models.

does this (Factory or other) card require yearly or any updates... is this a 1 time purchase which then keeps itself updated?

It doesn't receive updates. You will have to buy a new card when you think it's too outdated. The Mazda card that receives regular updates is $450 and this is around $40, so I can buy a bunch of these cards and still be ahead. This card is not the most current version but works just fine for me,

I had no card in my vehicle. So for me it was a full install. Worked immediately.

Will this provide mapping on a new Mazda 5 that never had Map Feature installed by Factory or dealer?

Unfortunately, will NOT work for Mazda 5.
