Slick AND Functional
Aside from fitting perfectly in my kitchen window (without needing the spacer blocks), it not only looks great but works exceptionally well. I actually left it on overnight because it was so quiet I forgot to turn it off. Even at high speed, it's very quiet compared to other fans I've had and produces a strong airflow. It's very easy to use and switching from intake to exhaust is a great feature in a kitchen without other venting. I can't say how practical it might be in larger rooms since there are no movable fins to direct the airflow left or right, but in my modest Manhattan kitchen, I couldn't ask for anything better.

Great concept
I wanted a window mount fan that was quiet, provided sufficient airflow, and was attractive. I really didn't want to have to take it out of the window more than I had to and I don't like the hum of a cheap fan so the goal was to pay the noise away. The first week it was spectacular and the middle setting moves enough air to turn the whole room over without a lot of noise. Unfortunately the longer I used it the louder it got. I suspect that the bushings for the fan are plastic and use started wearing them out quickly, but it's buttoned up so tight that there is no getting in there to check. Light pressure from a flexible object on the blades while it was running would silence it for a few minutes before it shook itself loose again. The issue corrected itself when this accidentally snapped a few of the blades off and it balanced itself. Now it is beautifully silent and still moves a good amount of air. Only you and I know that there are some blades sitting loose in the bottom of it.

Sealing air caps.
I had read the reviews and it and decided not to buy it mostly because of the sealing issues and the squirrel type fan they use, but my wife bought it without my knowledge. So I decided how hard could it be to install ? Take my word for it, I’m not sure anybody could come up with anything more stupid as far as sealing around it. 1. Foam inserts are about 1/4” higher than the seals on the top and bottom that are factory place. 2. The edges of the fan unit are not square therefore when the butt the inserts up against the side you have a very nice bug doorway all you need is a little food for them and you can take some nice pictures. If they would just extend the factory seals on all four corners to about an 1” they would at least solve this problem. 3. If you need to place additional inserts against each other for large window you can have even more gaps for bugs, “come on in I welcome you!”. 4. If you do need to install the inserts make sure to grow an extra arm for each,,plus one to hold the unit. In the end, I bought some good two side tape and some 1” square light foam from the hardware store. This helped to finally get it sealed. Pros: 1. Seem to close a baffle when powered down, hopefully this keeps bugs out, can’t really see how well the baffle seals without dismantling it. 2. Fairly quit. 3. Quality good. 4. If you want a nice simple and quiet breeze flow it not to bad. Cons: 1. Sealing, just plan Stupid, no really stupid! 2. Exhaust power ( What I really needed it for). If I were to rate it with a score from 1-10, I’d give it a three, I would not buy this squirrel type fan for exhaust purposes, but remember my wife bought it, and I must keep my mouth shut, and my eyes from rotating to the back of my head at all times which is the true secret of a good marriage. The only reason I did not give it lower than a 3 is most of the lower reviews are always purchasing, condition, and quality issues, which I had no problems with any of these, but I wanted people to read my review.

Cool air
I’m happy with my purchase. When I don’t want to use my central air I use the window air until. Its light weight and easily fits on my window. It comes with these thick foam side covers to block the air but they don’t fit that great. It pushes strong cool air but not like an AC unit. It works great in my Florida house.

Good fan, but a pain to fit properly in the window.
As others have said, the weird foam blocks you use to fill the gaps when you put it in your window are not a good solution. It's not that easy to get a secure fit. Thankfully I managed to find a configuration that somewhat fits in my window, but it's asymmetrical and there are a lot of gaps. At least the fan doesn't protrude at all so I can have my screen in the window at the same time to prevent bugs from coming in. But otherwise it's a nice, clean looking fan. And I like the multiple speeds and reverse option. It feels like the exhaust mode doesn't pull out nearly as much air as it pushes in in the intake mode though.
