Magpul Sling Mount Kit, Type 1, Black

This is another great Magpul product. I used this to add a QD sling attachment to an AK variant stock. It did attach pretty darn quick, in my opinion, and is rock-solid and fits great. Magpul is a great company, and while this is a little pricey for what you get (basically a steel hole with a screw), it works amazing and allows you to attach and detach a QD mount sling stud to your platform in the blink of an eye.

When you have certain Magpul stocks, and want to use a sling, this is required. So, I bought one, and it works. Magpul is a great brand, and most of their competition is either more expensive or or lower quality. That must be why I have so many of their products. Am I a fan? Guilty

Works great with my build. Easy to install, and does what’s its intended to do.

Bought a couple of these Type 1 kits to provide a mount point for a SGA and an MOE stock. You slide these into the stock holes (they require tapping with a rubber mallet to seat fully) insert a screw and then thread a nut on the other end. Simple, right? Well it wasn't 100% clear to me how you could support the nut while screwing the other end with the allen wrench. The MOE stock has a slight indent at the bottom of the space that looks like its a nut capture that secures the nut. Its too shallow (and surprise, its NOT a nut capture anyways). Tried immobilizing the nut with pliers, flat headed screwdriver and it was getting frustrating. Was about to return these.. until I sought YouTube from other people on how to attach these. That was the answer. There were a handful of people on YouTube that made special mention that you "might" be able to get a socket down into the recess to immobilize the nut then screw the other end. Turns out that was the ticket! There's just enough clearance in the whole to fit a 1/4" ratchet deep socket in to secure the nut while turning the allen key on the other end. Assembled the thing in about 4 minutes after I learned this. Of course, if Magpul's instructions mentioned this or they had instructional videos, I think they'd go far. I see handfuls of comments on similar frustrations, so I don't feel like too much an idiot! So.. happily installed on both MOE and SGA stocks. The hardware is quality as is typical of Magpul products in general. Would give five stars here but tiny bits of detailed instruction up front would've saved me a headache.

Being a lefty, I've had to add these to each of my stocks that support it. These kits allow me to use my qd socket slings to switch back and forth for when my kids use my stuff. They are all right handed. These things aren't cheap but they are extremely convenient. They are very well made and very durable. The hardware they come with includes some type of loctite on the threads. They are also hard to push into the stock, you can use a socket with a socket extension if you need help pushing it in.

This was exactly what I was looking for, fit into my magpul fixed stock like butter!

As advertised, all hardware was present & easy to install.

Use this QD cup on my hunting rifle so that I can swap on slings for different platforms. Its what you expect from magpul. Should last forever and not a horrible price.
