This is a great product. Installation was a doddle. I just watched a random YouTube tutorial 2 hours later (being nervous and never having done it before) and it was done. Not without its teething problems. 1st things firs, MAKE SURE ALL YOUR CONNECTIONS ARE FIRM! I didn't and as a result the iDrive decided to have a seizure every few minutes so there was no sound, when using indicators they were going a million miles a minute, and although the CarPlay was working, no sound. I was about ready to do a BMW delete and go buy a Mercedes with a CarPlay already installed. I persisted, took the dash apart and checked all connections after speaking with their (very good) customer support. Sure enough, as soon as I lifted the screen the power cable dropped out. That was my problem, loose connection. If the original wiring loom has fibre cables (or something) these need to be moved to the wiring harness supplied. If your car has these and you don't move them over, the dash may not work or partially work or something (I don't know, my car didn't have them - THANK GOD - But the tutorial looked simple enough) So its arrived and you've installed it, it seems to be working but no sound? This was our trouble, here's the fix I had to hunt for so you don't have to. FIRST, go onto the device's settings, set to use Car BT or something (this makes it so siri will run through the car as well and read your messages etc...) Then, make sure your phone is connected to the cars original interface Bluetooth setup for the base sound, this is primary for all of the other audio (music, videos etc...). LEAVE DISPLAY SETTINGS ALONE. DO NOT TOUCH. In settings also change the setting for 'mute when switching to original interface'. This device also acts like a bit of a hub for the car, it recognises when your lights are on, when doors are open etc... which explains the indicator issue we were having. ANYWAY... if you open a door and the device tells you its the left door when you opened the right door, you can swap it over in settings or turn the feature off all together. Now the product. We paid full price - GUTTED. What a steal even still! Works flawlessly with the car, takes a little longer to boot (maybe 10 seconds after start and its good). Works seamlessly with the original interface, so carplay when you need it and original interface when you need that. For example, putting the car in reverse immediately brings up the original interface with the sensors, camera. We've been using without fault now (since I checked the connections) for 3 days. I cannot recommend enough. I hope this has helped someone because trying to figure this out on my own made me bald.

Had a couple of minor issues but only with software settings etc. The actual nstall was so easy, literally just unplugging the harness and whacking an extra one on and plugging it in again. Dash pulled apart simply with only 6 screws to remove. Took me a while to get the resolution sorted as oem screen was green and purple but after setting it to the correct resolution and leaving the car to completely shut down for 5 mins then power on and now works flawlessly. Im lucky to have oem Bluetooth but looks like the install for aux is super easy too once cable is routed. All great so far!

Sometimes audio doesn’t work and I have to restart car. Apart from that amazing, works perfectly. Didn’t have Bluetooth before now can use Bluetooth using CarPlay. Easy to install

Great screen, relatively straight forward to install and decent instructions provided. The connectivity with original Idrive is good and works well. Sound quality and picture quality of screen is excellent. Fits in BMW 1 Series F20 LCI very well. I had one problem which customer support were able to help with quickly and easily.

Does overheat my phone alot! was having issues with it constantly had to eventually replace this again with the original screen (phone was about to burn me)

Great product so far, seems to be high quality. Installation was easy and took around 30 minutes and has given my F20 a new look. Would highly recommend so far.

I love how big and clear the screen is. I desperately wanted it to work well, but after fitting I wasn’t able to control my iDrive system with the turn wheel anymore. The Apple CarPlay is good but laggy. I swapped it back to the original screen and my iDrive started to work again. To be clear, the turn wheel did work at first, but then somehow stopped working after a few minutes

Here’s my review, hopefully this will help out anyone who is skeptical or on the fence. I bought this after claiming a load of company mileage, so the money was less of an issue, but if you’re willing to pay this amount of money for a very decent CarPlay screen and still keep the original iDrive functionality, trust me, it’s great. My initial reason for purchasing was that I couldn’t get any media to play from my phone at all, because my aux was messed up and I didn’t have the Bluetooth option on my bimmer. This display doesn’t rely on an aux, and actually replaced that system entirely (to get audio out of the screen you need to change to the front aux device on iDrive, but if your aux is messed up, it’s not an issue). The only issue I had with the screen was when I first powered up, and was messing around with a load of settings, I changed the MMI resolution to the NBT option, which was a higher resolution, so stick to the one it defaults to, if you change it, you’ll get a pink and green static image.
