Will the M12 set fit a half inch table slot?

No Because the upstand on the nut is too big for the T slot

are the studs M10 or does the M10 refer to "T" slots?

The studs are M10 & the T slot nuts are not much bigger. The top of the "top hat" is narrow enough to fit in a 12mm slot as I recall, & the brim will fit in most T slots.
