What type batteries? For fan and remote ? Are they included ?

Batteries are included. Rechargeable for the fan and I presume a watch type battery for the remote but as the fan is close a do not use the remote as yet. A great product I am very happy with it and will buy another.

How can you tell the current status of battery charge? Like is it currently 90% full or 10% full.

It doesn't give you an detailed indication but you press and hold the power button and it will light up to show the charge. 3 lights - full, 2 lights, medium, 1 light low etc.
