That would depend on how you plan on mounting it. On the vertical flap where the v mount attaches, there are 1/4" threaded holes.

Do I need a camera cage for this to screw on or can I just attach it to the camera body itself?

You can screw it directly onto the camera but I would highly recommend getting a cage with arca-swiss on the bottom.
