Very effective tool that like previous reviews broke. Poor quality weak casting. It worked exceptionally well until it broke. Someone needs to make a higher quality casting with spring powered opening to improve operability.

These are well made and sturdy. They worked great to pull hide off deer. Fit the hand well and once clamped on, have enough tension to not open up until you are done. Great choice for saving hand strength when doing multiple deer in a row. Would definitely recommend. Note: Don't pull too hard on younger deer hides because these beasts wont quit on you, they'll rip the patch of hide they bit and tear though the edge with the patch still locked in their jaws.

They worked great for 4 pulls. On the 5th one, the claw broke off, hit me in the head, and sent me crashing to the ground. I bought these over a year ago and just got to use them in January of 2026.

these are the best skinning tool on the market i have used them and at 83 years of age, the skinning process is very easy

Excellent. When skinning I often have problems with cold or even frozen, and difficulty pulling. This tool is perfect. No more hand cramping and I can get a good hold and downward pressure. I'm sure it would be super easy if it was fresh, but I typically hang for as long as the weather with allow. The teeth lock into the skin well and the tabs near the handle limit compression and stop you from over squeezing and likely breaking the claw. These are cast iron, so I wouldn't recommend dropping them on a concrete floor.

They are made of POT metal it is very brittle and will break easily. It looks good but just cant stand up to deer skinning. I give it a big thumbs down. Not recommend by me.

They come a bit roughly finished. I had to take them apart and file the hinge passes flat so that they worked smoothly. Also the handles are far apart when closed, so not good for anyone with smaller hands. Overall I'm very happy with them, they work great and save alot of cramping in fingers

Edit: two deer seasons and these tongs broke. One of the clamp sides broke right off. They are cast but I wouldn’t have expected them to snap under normal skinning. I’ve been looking for something to eliminate hand cramps while skinning deer. This is the answer. Only problem with it is the handles are very far apart to use one handed and I have big hands
