Brilliant. Utterly brilliant.
I love making my own burgers and in the last 5 years I have gone through umpteen burger presses, all made from a wide variety of materials, but all of which have broken after just one season's use. This baby is built like a battleship and I have no doubt will last for a very long time to come. Typical USA build quality and a simple design that works. Used for the first time today and produced 40 fabulous 3/4" thick burgers in no time at all, all of which stayed tightly packed on the Grill and the whole party loved them. Brought the press out to show my guests and was the talking point of the night. I'm sure a few of my guests will be getting one of these in the coming weeks! Observations: 1. The press needed a really good wash when it arrived - there seemed to be lots of loose flashing/non-stick coating flakes in the plastic bag. 2. Use wax discs on the base AND the top, which eliminates messy clean up, but it breaks down for cleaning and reassembles quickly and easily. None of the above detract from what a truly fabulous product this is. If you want to make your own burgers on a regular basis that have a consistent diameter, thickness and density - THIS is the product you need.

Fantastic!
What a great bit of kit, heavy and chunky, it makes what ever size thickness burgers you want. This is so simple to use, just decide how thick you want the burger to be by using the thread on the screw mechanism and then just press down with the button on top of it to make the easiest burgers you'll ever make (use wax disks to stop sticking) and that's it! You can make as many patties as you'll ever need and it's even easy to clean. I've had mine for a while now and I can say it is still as good as new. It's rugged and durable you really cannot go wrong with this bit of fun.

Weston burger press, good home made burgers at last
This is a great product, and it works! If like me you have tried making burger patties in the past and had them fall to pieces whilst cooking then this is for you. Used in conjunction with separators, either plastic discs [which I used] or paper, the patties come out clean and dense with no crumbling or recourse to egg etc as a binder. I am no cook only recently embarking on baking bread and with the purchase of a Kmix, making sausages which in turn led to burgers. If looks are important, it does look nice on a shelf, quite rustic. It comes with a little recipe book, but I Google'd recipes and modified my own with beef shoulder and oxtail. and a little seasoning. The press can be adjusted before use to produce the required burger 1/4lb etc so it's only necessary to divide the mince after grinding into balls by weight and pop them in and press down. Downsides are that [probably due to the casting process] the indexing for thickness on the screw threaded shaft is [or was for my ageing eyesight] too faint to see without a magnifying glass. Although the finish resembles cast iron it is actually an alloy and deceptively light making it feel flimsy. If it were iron like Le Creuset pans even at at higher price point it might be better but treated well, I don't doubt that it will survive at least residential use and the professional looking burgers are great.

Good quality item, just wish there were instructions.
This item came in a box (obviously), but without any instructions. So the first thing to do is to try to work out how to use it!! After washing, then a thorough investigation of the device is required. The top has, at the initial view, a plunger. This is not actually what it is. Under the flat top, there is a butterfly type fastener. This actually enables the user to fix the height of the internal plate, to you can make thinner or fatter burgers. There are no instructions to tell you this, but it is true. Firstly you need to loosen this butterfly fastener, then you can twist the flat plunger to move the plate. Once you have reached the depth of burger you require, then you tighten the butterfly fastener, to lock the plate. There is a flat edge to the screw thread, under the butterfly fastener, this has very difficult to see markings. They are slightly embossed and say 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4. Each set of markings has what looks like a g after it. I have made the assumption that these refer to the imperial weights of the burgers you can produce. i.e. 1/4 pounder. Under each number set, there is a line, which again I had to assume means you place the bottom of the butterfly fastener, then tighten down the plunder until it locks. You can then make the patty. In use, it works well. You need to weigh out the amount of meat you are going to make the burger with, place it slightly off centre towards the main hinge. fold over the top plate and press firmly. The patty is then made. Always, always, always put something under the patty first, as you would find it very difficult to get it out otherwise. I used the 5" cellophane burger discs. These do have to be carefully placed, as they do move as you put the top plate over. I also put greaseproof paper over the burger patty as well, as this stops the meat from being pushed up the side of the top plate. This is really to assist with cleaning the product afterwards. I'm sure it wouldn't stick to the top plate too much without it, but it is a good recommendation to follow. Once everything is set up, the device is very easy to use, the placing of the cellophane discs is the most time consuming part. It makes consistent burgers, both diameter and thickness, and therefore makes cooking times for the burgers to be the same. This product seems ruggedly built, so should last for a long long time. Will I use it for each time I wish to make burgers/meat patties - yes I would. So much cleaner to use than just flattening them with your hands, and by giving a consistent thickness the cooking is so much easier.

Burgers a go go, full steam ahead.
Brilliant, makes fantastic burgers, no matter what meats you use. I did consider the double burger maker, but as there is only me to consider, I settled for the single one. One other thing, it is so easy to use and even more easy to clean.

Fabulous in all ways.
Top bit of kit. Will last a lifetime it’s so sturdy and well made, could even become an heirloom. Simple to use, especially if you are making batches of patties for a bbq or for the freezer, and cleans very easily. I disassemble it for cleaning but that’s no great effort. Easy to adjust for different thicknesses of burger. Love it and looks great as a piece of industrial chic.
