Does jar need to be cleaned prior to use?

I would suggest you wash it by hand and allow it to air dry before you first use it, but it's not necessary. It just depends on how you personally feel about putting things in your new jar.

How much does the jar weigh?

Roughly 275 grams, with the lid on.

what is the lid made of? does it ensures airtight seal?

Instead the list is a silicone liner, this will give you as good of an airtight seal as you can expect from any other type of container.

Does it really smell proof?

This container has a silicone liner that helps create a "smell proof" from people, but not dogs;)
