Review: Fixes the very obvious flaw in the Google Home - This is brilliant. Perhaps a little tricky to detach from the cord sometimes but I'm sure that'll wear in. This does, however, fix the obvious and fundamental problem with the Google Home - no battery for portability. Now I can take my Home to the garden, for example, or any other room I like within WiFi range. Tip: No Wifi? Set your phone hotspot to the same credentials as your home Wifi and tether. Then you can go ANYWHERE! 8 hour battery life was, I thought, optimistic, but I've manged to get over 9 out of it the other week at a BBQ. Best accessory for the Home I ever got!
Review: Looks nice but... - Unfortunately it has to be charged using the original power cord. This would be fine and charges fine but it is awkward to pull the power cord out when wanting to use it powered by the battery not the mains. The google power cord has not been made to keep being removed from the unit. I fear my power cord may end up unusable after constant use. The battery really needs to come with an optional extension lead to plug the google power cord into rather than straight into the bottom of the unit. Update (15/03/2020): The battery has died. I would not purchase this product again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: After I attached the base, the unit did not receive power.  Has anyone else had this problem?**
A: I've gone through 3 of these now, none will power on. I took the last one apart. They use 4 Blackberry NX1 batteries, and in the unit I examined they were all at 0.05V - well under the low voltage threshold. I'm guessing that since Google isn't making more of these Google Home devices, we're down to old stock on these bases and the batteries are arriving so dead that the control electronics won't charge them.

**Q: Can I always leave this plugged in ???**
A: Yes - the Loft was designed to have the Google Home power supply plugged in all the time. Unplug when you want portability.

**Q: Can you turn this off so it doesn’t kill the battery if you don’t need it on?**
A: There is a power button for the battery base. Since the power supply runs thru the battery base to the Google. If you turn the base off then Google will be off.

**Q: Can I use it in Europe (220 volts)?**
A: This is 110 volts you may damage it with the higher power
