Dough Hook Extender for Bosch Universal Plus Mixer

There are issues/complaints that Bosch Universal Plus (BUP) owners have been grappling with, and working around, and brain storming about and... (Can you feel the frustration?) since like, FOREVER! Examples: 1. The BUP cannot pull off a low yield formula. It's GREAT for a big batch of dough, but TERRIBLE for a normal small batch of a couple of loaves. 2. On wetter doughs (higher hydration) the BUP will not mix the dough properly. The dough will wrap around the center post and not be kneaded by the dough hook. 3. The BUP is hard to clean because the mix gets up into fluted center post and latches. Personally I have shared in these frustrations and created my own workarounds - but - who want's to have a workaround? This extender, which attaches to the center spindle below the dough hook and attaches itself to (and extends to the bottom of the bowl) the short rudder of the original dough hook have ended all of my "hacks." It fixes EVERYTHING! It can be used with a tiny batch or a GIANT batch. It makes the BUPl work better all the way around. I have not made any Ciabatta yet, but I have been making some extra wet (and sticky... and oily) SUPER Flaxseed bread which has about an 80% hydration. The BUP, with this attachment, kills it. On the triple batch I cleaned about 10 flaxseeds from the fluted part and 5 or so from the lid latch. (Whisc is NOTHING) Bosch owners, you can put that "fish ring" (Dough Creeper) away. This is a MUST buy. I do not work for Bosch, Amazon, NutriMill or anyone else. I just love to bake. I cannot wait to make a normal hydration dough with this. CHEERS!

I picked up the Dough Hook Extender for my Bosch Universal Plus (MUZ6DE1) so I could make smaller loaves of bread, and it delivers precisely what it promises. Constructed from food-safe plastic, it snaps onto the center post beneath your existing dough hook, extending its reach to knead dough from the very bottom of the bowl

I bake bread, but I do not make it in large amounts. This wonderful extender makes it much easier to make one loaf at a time. It takes care of the dough/flour that "sits" in lower part of the mixer bowl and helps incorporate it into the dough. It really is the best $10.00 I've ever spent. If you're thinking about buying this, but are wondering "will it really work"....it does. Go ahead and spend the $$$.

Without the splash guard it works well. With the guard it is very tight & makes the bowl wobble. I’m afraid it is stressing the plastic wings on the splash guard & will break them. I bought this for smaller portions in the bowl! It works BUT is very tight with the lid/splash guard on!

Fits perfectly, helps me mix smaller batches of dough. Great!

My wife got me the Bosh Universal Plus a few years ago to replace my old mixer I used to make dough. Like many people have found with the Bosh it is a pain with small loafs or high hydration breads. The problem is the dough climbs the column to the top and does not get kneaded properly. Over the Thanksgiving holiday I made dinner rolls that used 1lb of flour and is a very moist soft dough. Normally these are a pain in the Bosh and I end up kneading by hand.The other option was to add more flour to stiffen the dough, this works but the texture of the rolls was not right. With the Dough Hook Extender there were no issues at all, even with such a small dough ball. I have use the extender with up to dough that had 2 1/2 lb of flour and it worked great. I agree with other reviews, this should come with the mixer but that being said, this works perfectly and deserves the 5 star rating. Note: 1/1/2016 I have used the Dough Hook Extender for another month now, and it really got a workout while making all the holiday meals. I cannot say enough good things. If you have a Bosh Universal Mixer and bake bread this attachment is a must. Note: 1/18/2017 So it has been over a year now and my original assessment stands, this if a fantastic addition to the Bosch Universal Plus for anyone who bakes bread. As many have noted, making a small batch or high hydration dough was frustrating at best without the Dough Hook Extender, with it the results are perfect.

I purchased this at the same time as my Bosch Universal Plus after reading reviews about needing the dough extender. It's perfect. It goes right underneath the dough hook and keeps smaller batches or high hydration batches from wrapping around the column. I've never had the plastic melt or break the bowl. When done I toss it in the dishwasher. It's not recommended for other uses like cake batter. There is a different bowl scraper for that which also works great. This one is just for actual dough. If you have any strange rubbing Bosch recommends using vegetable shortening to lubricate. It won't hurt the machine. It's what they use from the factory.

Works great but now I can’t get it off !!!

I have had a bosch mixer and a dough hook extender for many years. My daughter recently bought a bosch mixer, but it does not come with a dough hook extender. This one was purchased for her. We like bread making, and this little tool for the bosch mixer is great.

a necessary tool for a Bosch mixer, i just wish they made them in metal as the plastic ones eventually wear out and break.

This Bosch Universal Mixer Dough Hook Extender did not work! Did not attach properly.

This is a dandy addition to the Bosch Universal set of tools! Keeps that bread dough from hanging around the cone and mixes amazing. Worthwhile investment!
