Pencil First Games Maul Peak Board Game – an Asymmetric Tactics Game of Giant Guardians and Fierce Bears by Pencil First Games for 2 Players

This was bought for my son. We have played it a ton. It is a great head to head game.

There is quite a lot to love about this game.The entire game is a non-traditional entry into 2 player competitions. Because there are many options to choose from, the replay factor is high. There are several HUGE characters to choose from and there are several heroic characters to choose from which leads to many combinations for game play.The idea that there is a small game board and a separate board that represents the giant that is being attacked is novel and really drives the overall theme home. It might seem unbalanced at first, but as the game moves forward, the power shifts and the end result is often a "nail-biter" of a competition.For those of you that don't appreciate marathon game times, this really scratches the itch. The games are a really appropriate time - not too long and not too short. I think that matches run around 30-50 minutes. But once you are familiar with the game mechanisms, that becomes shorter.I can't recommend this game enough. I love the concept, art and theme. It is a winner!

Kinda basic and rather predictable (wish the non-monster player had more than just one deck to use), yet it is charming and fun. The lady can't beat me, but she still tries, so that gives it an extra star. ^_-

Sometimes Kickstarter based games have beautiful productions but are actually meh games. Skulk Hollow, which was originally a KS game, is not like that at all. The game play matches the outstanding production. The rule book is one of the best I have read. Easy to follow, great examples, this game gets to the table ASAP. The art and the production are first rate. High quality cards and all other materials are outstanding. This is a game actually for two players, not a game that is meant for 3-4 with different not as good rules for two. This is a great two player option the way 7 Wonders Duel or Watergate is. Bottom line, very pretty to look at, high quality, and most important fun. All ages will love this game. It is not a 3 hour heavy euro, rather it is an aysemetrical combat game that is simple fun. We enjoy this very much.

This is a great game for two players. One player takes the role of the Fox people while the other takes on the role of the guardian. What I love about this game is the variety it gives you. You have four different fox leaders that you choose from and four different guardians all of which play differently you get to choose from adding a lot of replayability. Another great thing about this game are the components are stellar for this game including giant wooden meeples shaped like the guardians.They are currently working on Maul Peak which will introduce four more guardians and a new factions of woodland heroes the bears! What is cool about this is they will all be backwards compatible with Skulk Hollow.

Art and presentation are beautiful and adorable. Yet there is a good game here too. Easy to learn yet still challenging. Rulebook could have been better written. Multiple creatures gives goodreplay-ability. Components are high quality.Asymmetric game for two - each player has different rules and different objectivesand different ways to reach their objectives despite going head to head.My friend described this game as Root meets Rampage.I’m super happy to add this quality game to my collection.The amazing monster meeples are almost worth the purchase all by themselves…

great game! i love the idea of shadow of the colossal but as a board game. once you get the rules down it turns go fast and the rules are not that hard to grasp. i only played 1 game so far but it seems the foxes have a bit of an advantage but they only just beat the rock giant. even still the aesthetic is fantastic and i'ed still play it if i lost every game. i'm also working on some giant vs giant house rules.

Has enough complexity to be fun but not to much to be difficult.

Difficulty: MediumLength: 30-45minsPlayers: 2I love this 1v1 game. This is a 2 player assymetrical game. One player plays as woodland kingdom creatures including a king and their army, the other is one giant guardian. This gives a one vs many feel despite only being 2 players. The army player gets to try flanking techniques and sends units to jump on the titan and attack weak points, while the guardian player tries to snuff out the king or earn enough tribute by eliminating units.This game is quite unique and if you like your Duel style games with a big twist them this will definitely have to go into your collection!

完全二人用対戦ゲーム。4種類の巨人がとキツネ族は、それぞれでコマ・カード・トークンがトランプ大の箱に纏められているので、非常に遊び易いですし、何より巨人ボードの上をキツネコマを動かすのが楽しいです。巨人は4種類いますが、うち2種類はキツネを倒しても勝利に繋がらないので、遊んでいて楽しいのは基本の巨人くらいでしょうか。コマがリアルなフィギュアなら、より楽しめたと思います
