Love them! They are perfect! Shockwave is bigger than I thought he’d be!

Shockwave before he had his face ripped off
I bought this set when Amazon originally released it, but sold it before ever opening it. It went on steep discount recently so I decided to give it a go for real this time. Senator Shockwave is a very cool redeco of the Siege seeker mold with resculpted boosters. Color scheme has mad Ultra Magnus vibes. I know in the IDW comics he becomes a purple cyclops throughthe ritual of empurata, but I decided to slap Autobot labels on him anyway. Orion Pax is a clever use of the Siege Hound mode with some updates. A little on the tiny side, but he holds a nice pose and gains points for having his chest design homage Dreamwave’s The War Within comic series. If you can get this set on discount it’s a lot of fun, with a very novel take on Shockwave. Not sure I’d pay full sticker for it though.

Some bumps in the road, Orion isn't quite IDW, but overall an ok set
(For those who don't know, due to an error, Amazon listed for preorder the two Transformers figure-packs based on IDW comic designs backwards and shipped them as such, so listings for one set delivered the opposite (order Orion Pax/Shockwave set, get Megatron/Ratbat set; and vice-versa), eventually Amazon changed the pictures and text of each listing. I got the wrong set from what I was expecting and after asking Amazon took care of my issue, but at launch there's a lot of frustrating confusion that should get evened out over time.) Both figures in this Humble Origins set are partial remolds of War for Cybertron: Siege figures, Orion Pax from deluxe-class Hound and Senator Shockwave from voyager-class Starscream, fitting since those were also Cybertronian modes. Orion Pax isn't exactly his IDW self, the figure is a deluxe-sized one who's described here as a data clerk like in Aligned when IDW had Orion as a beefy cop; the axe and face are taken from previous iterations, none of it is the G1 cartoon Orion Pax obviously, but overall it isn't a bad take on the character. Vehicle mode has odd proportions and is a little sloppy holding together, but has some charm, rolls nicely, and can store the weapons, Hound's rifle and ammo drum, plus a new axe head and handle. Robot mode has nice new sculpting to convey a "younger" Optimus before the growth spurt, decent paint to go with it, everything feels fairly solid. The axe comes in two parts and connects in a non-standard 6mm peg so the head can't be added to other weapons as easily, though it has a 3mm hole inside to attach to blast effects pegs like the one on the tip of Pax's rifle. Senator Shockwave is a mix of different IDW looks, this is the character before he was mutilated into becoming the G1 character. The sinister Cybertronian Starscream mold this was modified from makes some sense from the comics with the shoulder tower design, but the overall proportions don't fit this more heroic version of the character. Robot mode sports a new head, chest, crotch, and hinged winglets inspired by the comic design; plus different backpack wings that seem to be an all-new invention. The great articulation is still present for all the pontificating poses you can come up with. The colors are inspired by Ultra Magnus, for my tastes there's not enough red in the torso to feel like IDW's Shockwave. What brings Senator Shockwave down in my eyes is the vehicle mode, taking the Siege tetrajet design and exchanging the wings with large thruster engines, adding little winglets to the bottom of the craft. This now goes from a long sleek nose to a very bricky rear half that doesn't say what kind of vehicle it is, it's just a visual mess that could have worked a lot better simply by adding extra 5mm holes to let the winglets plug in higher. It's a solid toy though, and the new robot chest doesn't look quite as obvious on the back as the Seeker's did.

Wonderful product.
Everything about this set is fantastic. The molds are great, the packaging was beautiful, and I particularly liked the figures being based on the Cybertronian alt modes of Orion Pax and Soundwave. I wish Takara and Hasbro would release more Cybertronian molds than they have currently.

OK so they are repaints, remoulds of previous characters, Pax being War for Cybertron Hound and Shockwave being any one of the previously reused Tetra Jets. Pax is a heavy remould and looks pretty good, nothing like his original G1 self, but good anyways. Shockwave looks nothing like his G1 self either, the remould of the jet mode is very nice, but, for me it looks odd, unfinished without the wings. Accessories for Pax include a blaster rifle, ammo pack and a new two part axe. Shockwave has no weapon accessories except to small wings that can be removed and possibly used as weapons. A very nice set of unusual character options that any Transformers would love.

At this point, with the fractured friendship two pack the only reason to get this set is the senator shockwave figure, which is a really solid figure that solves my issues with the figure it's based on, the orion pax figure however had parts literally refusing to stay attached to it, the feet having a major issue with wanting to fall off.
